Chapter 3 - The Peddler
Egwene — aliases: Egwene al'Vere (Egwene al'Vere)
Egwene se tient derrière Nynaeve, observant les jeunes avec désapprobation et un sourire secret. Elle confronte Rand au sujet de ses sentiments et de son avenir en tant que Sage, révélant son désir de quitter les Deux-Rivières et sa peur de perdre son lien avec lui s'il le fait.
Chapter 7 - Out of the Woods
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere
Egwene, épuisée et couverte de suie, rencontre Rand et le conduit auprès de la Sage. Elle serre Rand dans ses bras après le refus de Nynaeve, puis est rappelée par celle-ci, laissant Rand seul avec ses peurs.
Chapter 10 - Leavetaking
Egwene
Egwene se glisse dans l'écurie et affronte Moiraine, refusant d'être laissée pour compte. Elle déduit les plans du groupe en observant leur comportement, et Moiraine lui permet de les accompagner, chevauchant Bela.
Chapter 11 - The Road to Taren Ferry
Egwene
Egwene rides Bela, initially exhausted but later exhilarated by the flight. She shouts for Rand to mount during the Draghkar attack and rides excitedly through the fog.
Chapter 12 - Across the Taren
Egwene
Egwene marche avec assurance à travers le brouillard et réagit avec joie au tour de passe-passe de Thom avec son poignard. Elle s'assoit avec Moiraine dans la dépression, écoutant avidement la leçon sur le Pouvoir Unique et parvenant à toucher la Source par l'intermédiaire d'une pierre bleue, ce qui la comble de joie et suscite la jalousie silencieuse de Rand.
Chapter 13 - Choices
Egwene
Egwene se défait les cheveux pour ressembler à une Aes Sedai et argue avec Rand au sujet de son choix. Elle passe des nuits avec Moiraine, apprenant à connaître le Pouvoir Unique, et arrive à Baerlon impatiente de son futur à la Tour Blanche.
Chapter 14 - The Stag and Lion
Egwene
Egwene reste dans les chambres avec Moiraine, se peigne les cheveux et se réchauffe les mains au feu avant de rejoindre la salle à manger privée. Elle se raidit et tourne le dos à Rand lorsqu'il tente de s'excuser, maintenant une distance boudeuse envers lui tout au long du repas.
Chapter 16 - The Wisdom
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere
Egwene hides her unbraided hair under her cloak hood during the meeting, defends her decision to leave with Moiraine by mentioning she left a note, and is dismissed from the room to allow the women to speak privately.
Chapter 17 - Watchers and Hunters
Egwene
Egwene danse avec Rand et d'autres, puis suit Moiraine dans sa fuite. Elle est témoin de la forme gigantesque de Moiraine à la porte et exprime sa peur.
Chapter 18 - The Caemlyn Road
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere
Egwene chevauche Bela et combat des Trollocs avec un couteau de ceinture. Elle interroge Rand et Mat au sujet du cri de guerre qu'ils ont poussé, sentant qu'elle l'a brièvement compris, et écoute pendant que Moiraine explique la lignée de l'Aigle Rouge et de la Rose du Soleil.
Chapter 19 - Shadow’s Waiting
Egwene
Egwene attend dans la maison de sécurité, se réchauffe près du feu et écoute l'histoire terrifiante du groupe concernant Mordeth et l'ombre de Shadar Logoth avec une peur visible.
Chapter 20 - Dust on the Wind
Egwene
Egwene chevauche avec Perrin vers la porte et tombe dans la rivière Arinelle avec lui. Après un bref moment dans l'eau, elle est séparée de Perrin, et son sort après cela reste inconnu alors que les Trollocs les poursuivent.
Chapter 22 - A Path Chosen
Egwene
Egwene waits by a fire with Bela, having successfully crossed the river, and reunites with Perrin. She provides him with dry bread and cheese, listens to his strategic proposal to head to Caemlyn, and agrees to follow his lead while expressing confidence that Moiraine will find them.
Chapter 23 - Wolfbrother
Egwene
Egwene insists on riding Bela and attempts to channel the One Power to make a fire, failing but refusing to stop trying. She accompanies Perrin to Elyas's camp, offers a detailed fabricated story from Saldaea which the wolves instantly detect as lies, and firmly asserts her determination to go to Caemlyn and Tar Valon.
Chapter 25 - The Traveling People

Egwene rides the mare Bela alongside the wolves. She dances with Aram at the Tinker camp, finding joy in the moment, but later breaks down in tears before Perrin, asking if her friends are safe, relieved to hear they are alive.
Chapter 27 - Shelter From the Storm
Egwene
Egwene embraces the Tinkers' festivities, learning dances and receiving gifts from Aram, while advising Perrin to enjoy themselves. She confers with Ila and stubbornly refuses Aram's attempt to persuade her to stay with the Tuatha'an, eventually preparing to leave with the group.
Chapter 29 - Eyes Without Pity
Egwene
Egwene rides Bela through the flight from the ravens, using her sling to save Perrin. She enters the stedding, noting the strange peace and the monument of Artur Hawkwing's Eye, and questions Elyas about the history of the stone carving.
Chapter 30 - Children of Shadow
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere
Egwene attend au bord du feu et se cache sous la statue avec Perrin et Bela, devenant anxieuse alors que les Enfants de la Lumière fouillent les environs. Elle réconforte Perrin et lui promet de danser avec lui à dimanche s'ils rentrent chez eux. Après avoir été capturée, elle est ligotée dans la tente de Bornhald et répond aux questions de ce dernier, précisant les détails de leur rencontre avec un Warder pour étayer l'histoire fabriquée de Perrin, tout en réagissant avec peur à l'agressivité de Byar.
Chapter 33 - The Dark Waits
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere
Egwene apparaît dans le délire fébrile de Rand, en pleurs et l'accusant de les avoir abandonnés à leur sort.
Chapter 38 - Rescue
Egwene
Maintenue à distance et marchant aux côtés de Perrin, Egwene est réveillée par Byar et aidée à s'échapper par Lan. Elle retrouve Nynaeve et son cheval Bela, puis reçoit des soins pour ses poignets tout en s'inquiétant anxieusement du lieu où se trouvent Rand et Mat.
Chapter 41 - Old Friends and New Threats
Egwene
Egwene reunites with Rand and asks about the red wrappings on his sword. She is present in Mat's room when Moiraine identifies the dagger's evil and asks if the condition is catching.
Chapter 42 - Remembrance of Dreams
Egwene
Egwene is present in the library, initially gawking at Loial before listening to the discussion. She confirms the Tinkers' account of the Aiel dying and the warning about the Eye of the World. She is seen crying softly at the end of the chapter, comforted by Nynaeve.
Chapter 43 - Decisions and Apparitions
Egwene
Egwene asks Loial how the Ways were made and refuses Moiraine's suggestion that she and Nynaeve should stay behind for safety. She insists on accompanying the men to the Eye of the World, stating that she cannot hide while they face danger.
Chapter 44 - The Dark Along the Ways
Egwene
Egwene goes to her horse Bela, follows the group into the cellar, and passes through the Waygate in shocked silence. She presses close to Rand in the darkness and looks as if she wishes she could rethink her decision to accompany the group into the Ways.
Chapter 45 - What Follows in Shadow
Egwene
Egwene clings to Rand's arm for several bridges and later shares a moment of fear with him as the wind approaches. She hears the screaming voices of Machin Shin and is terrified by the entity's whispers.
Chapter 46 - Fal Dara
Egwene
Egwene rides Bela, shivering in the cold and observing the abandoned farms and silent crowds of Fal Dara. She joins the group in Lord Agelmar's study, where she is present when Padan Fain is brought in and reveals his connection to the Dark One.
Chapter 47 - More Tales of the Wheel
Egwene
Egwene engage Agelmar dans une conversation au sujet du titre de Lan, ricanant devant ses histoires avant que l'atmosphère ne se modifie. Elle réconforte Nynaeve et cite un proverbe sur le fait de trouver la Lumière dans l'Ombre, exprimant l'espoir de la rédemption de Fain avant d'apprendre ses crimes.
Chapter 48 - The Blight
Egwene
Egwene travels with the group, fanning herself in the heat. She expresses interest in learning illusion magic from Moiraine and enthusiastically tells the group they will all go to Tar Valon together, specifically asking Rand to be her Warder.
Chapter 49 - The Dark One Stirs
Egwene
Egwene reste avec Nynaeve le matin, puis monte son cheval Bela. Elle chevauche avec le groupe à travers le Fléau, observant les tours et les lacs en ruine. Elle exprime son inquiétude quant à l'atteinte de l'Œil et demande si les Vers les suivront dans les montagnes, avant de fixer avec stupéfaction l'Homme Vert.
Chapter 50 - Meetings at the Eye
Egwene
Egwene wears a garland of flowers and feels the soothing peace of the sanctuary. Upon seeing Nynaeve attacked, she attempts to channel her untrained power to help, but Rand physically pulls her away from the confrontation, and she is forced to flee with the group.
Chapter 51 - Against the Shadow
Egwene
An illusion of Egwene appears in Ba'alzamon's chamber, standing pale and frightened to torment Rand, but she blurs and dissipates when Rand denies the vision.
Chapter 52 - There Is Neither Beginning Nor End
Egwene
Egwene waits beneath the oak tree with Moiraine and Nynaeve, initially drawing back from Rand's touch out of fear before embracing him. She expresses her sorrow and loyalty to him, then helps Moiraine and listens as the treasures are revealed, remaining silent about her own feelings regarding his channeling.
Chapter 53 - The Wheel Turns
Egwene
Egwene mounts her horse Bela and helps carry the weakened Moiraine on a litter. She rides through the Blight as it recedes, later finding Rand on the balcony in Fal Dara, where she pleads with him to stay with the group and come to Tar Valon, though he refuses.
