Verin Mathwin sits cross-legged beneath an arrowslit in the anteroom, intently examining a flower and taking notes in a book. She pays no attention to Moiraine's entrance, absorbed in her observations.
Chapter 7 - Blood Calls Blood
Verin — aliases: Daughter (Fille)
Verin provides notes on the dungeon graffiti, reading a dark prophecy that mentions Lanfear and the man who channels. She deduces that the man who channels is likely the Dragon Reborn and channels the Power to mute Siuan’s aura to prove her point, then explains her long-term observations to the Amyrlin.

Chapter 28 - A New Thread in the Pattern

Verin examines Mat frequently and observes Urien with sharp concentration. She interrogates the Aiel about Rhuidean, dismissing his attempt to treat her as a Wise One by revealing her identity as Aes Sedai. She erases the symbol he draws and urges the party to ride hard, troubled by the prophecy's connection to the Pattern.

Verin heals Hurin and guides the group to The Great Tree inn. She reveals the catastrophic potential of a pair of sa'angreal linked to the War of the Powers and explains that King Galldrian would seize the Horn of Valere. She crumples the King's invitation but accepts Barthanes's invitation for Rand to attend the manor.

Verin enters the manor as Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah, drawing significant attention and murmurs from the nobles. She insists on splitting the group to avoid suspicion and watches as Rand navigates the social dangers of the party.
Chapter 33 - A Message from the Dark

Verin interroge Rand et les autres sur leurs découvertes, rejette l'idée que le Machin Shin puisse être contrôlé par des serviteurs des Ténèbres, et révèle que Mat se détériore à cause de la souillure du poignard. Elle décide qu'ils doivent se rendre à Toman Head, dirigeant le groupe vers la préparation du départ à l'aube via Stedding Tsofu.
Chapter 35 - Stedding Tsofu

Verin voyage avec le groupe et gère l'entrée dans le stedding, ordonnant à Ingtar de laisser des hommes armés à l'extérieur. Elle tente d'empêcher la confrontation avec les Aiel par des ordres frustrés et est finalement emmenée par Juni pour parler aux Anciens.

Verin est assise face à l'estrade, défendant la nécessité pour le groupe d'utiliser les Voies. Elle touche Trayal et recule, horrifiée par l'âme vide de celui-ci. Lorsque la Porte de Voie est rejetée en raison du Machin Shin, elle reconnaît le danger mais reste concentrée sur la chronologie. Elle confirme sa connaissance du fonctionnement des Pierres de Portail et accepte la révélation d'Alar concernant une Pierre proche, ordonnant au groupe de s'y rendre immédiatement.
Chapter 37 - What Might Be

Verin guide le groupe jusqu'à la Pierre du Portail et explique le mécanisme des Mondes qui pourraient être, instruisant Rand de choisir un symbole pour se rendre à Toman Head. Elle parvient à se relever après la surcharge de puissance, réprimande Rand pour son manque de contrôle, et détermine qu'ils ont perdu quatre mois de temps avant d'ordonner au groupe de chevaucher vers l'ouest pour trouver la Corne.
Chapter 41 - Disagreements

Verin se réchauffe près du feu et discute avec Ingtar, insistant pour qu'ils suivent la prophétie qui mène à Falme. Elle met en garde Rand contre les dangers inconnus des Seanchan à Falme, mais finit par lui dire qu'il doit faire son propre choix, observant sa lutte avec son identité en tant que Dragon.
Chapter 44 - Five Will Ride Forth

Verin sits by the fire drawing symbols in the dirt, asserts that the Pattern has led them to Falme, and selects Ingtar, Mat, Perrin, Rand, and Loial to ride to Falme, refusing to join them due to the threat of damane.
