Padan Fain est assis dans sa cellule de donjon, paraissant maigre et attentif. Il reconnaît Rand dans l'obscurité, prononce une prophétie cryptique sur une bataille sans fin, et rit doucement devant des visions invisibles avant qu'Egwene et Rand ne partent.

Chapter 5 - The Shadow in Shienar

Padan Fain attend dans l'obscurité de sa cellule de donjon, un sourire aux lèvres, murmurant que la bataille n'est jamais terminée. Il se lève lorsque la porte s'ouvre, sentant le sang courir dans ses veines alors qu'une figure entre.

Chapter 11 - Glimmers of the Pattern

Fain / Padan Fain — aliases: the Fade (le Fade)

Padan Fain, désormais maître de ses Trollocs et de ses partisans des Ténèbres, ordonne le massacre des villageois pour ralentir ses poursuivants. Il affirme son contrôle sur les humains survivants qui imploient sa pitié, et s'apprête à ouvrir un coffre orné tout en jurant d'attraper Rand.

Chapter 19 - Beneath the Dagger

Fain

Fain se réveille et découvre que la Corne de Valère a disparu de son camp ; il hurle après ses Trollocs et ses Darkfriends pour qu'ils trouvent Rand. Il se tient au-dessus de son feu, réalisant qu'un lien sombre l'attire vers les montagnes, et jure que Rand et le monde paieront pour ce vol.

Chapter 33 - A Message from the Dark

Padan Fain is the subject of the message delivered to Rand by Barthanes, threatening to hunt Rand's blood and people if he does not follow him to Toman Head, where he claims to be waiting with the Horn.

Chapter 34 - The Wheel Weaves

Fain / Padan

Fain arrives in Falme and presents the Horn of Valere and the Shadar Logoth dagger to High Lord Turak. He lies about his family's oath to Artur Hawkwing to gain favor, securing a promise that he may be presented to the Empress before being dismissed.
