Beauchamp arrives to find breakfast, complaining of his political duties and the upcoming speech by Danglars. He ridicules the idea of vampires and bandits, dismissing the Count as a fabrication, but is impressed by the Count’s sophisticated apology for his lack of French etiquette during the meal.
