バーンは、肩に古い傷を持つオスのオオカミで、ペリンとエグウェンに対して不機嫌で敵対的である。彼は人間を助けることに抗議してキャンプを去ろうとし、他の十数匹の若いオスたちを率いて去り、ペリンの心に憎悪の感情と血の味を投影する。
