Chapter 3 - The Peddler

Egwene — aliases: Egwene al'Vere (Egwene al'Vere)

Egwene fica atrás de Nynaeve, observando os jovens com desaprovação e um sorriso secreto. Ela confronta Rand sobre seus sentimentos e seu futuro como Sábia, revelando seu desejo de deixar os Dois Rios e seu medo de perder sua conexão com ele se o fizer.

Chapter 7 - Out of the Woods

Egwene, exhausted and smudged with soot, meets Rand and leads him to the Wisdom. She hugs Rand after Nynaeve's refusal, then is summoned back by Nynaeve, leaving Rand alone with his fears.

Chapter 10 - Leavetaking

Egwene unbraids her hair to resemble an Aes Sedai and argues with Rand about her choice. She spends nights with Moiraine, learning about the One Power, and arrives in Baerlon eager for her future at the White Tower.

Chapter 14 - The Stag and Lion

Egwene

Egwene permanece nas acomodações com Moiraine, penteia o cabelo e aquece as mãos junto à lareira antes de se juntar à sala de jantar privada. Ela se endurece e vira as costas para Rand quando ele tenta se desculpar, mantendo uma distância sombria dele durante a refeição.

Chapter 16 - The Wisdom

Egwene hides her unbraided hair under her cloak hood during the meeting, defends her decision to leave with Moiraine by mentioning she left a note, and is dismissed from the room to allow the women to speak privately.

Chapter 17 - Watchers and Hunters

Egwene

Egwene dances with Rand and others, then follows Moiraine in fleeing. She witnesses Moiraine's giant form at the gate and expresses fear.

Chapter 18 - The Caemlyn Road

Egwene / Egwene al'Vere

Egwene monta Bela e luta contra os Trollocs com uma faca de cinto. Ela questiona Rand e Mat sobre o grito de guerra que gritaram, sentindo que brevemente o compreendeu, e ouve enquanto Moiraine explica a linhagem da Águia Vermelha e da Rosa do Sol.

Chapter 19 - Shadow’s Waiting

Chapter 23 - Wolfbrother

Egwene insiste em montar Bela e tenta canalizar o Poder Único para criar um fogo, falhando, mas recusando-se a parar de tentar. Ela acompanha Perrin ao acampamento de Elyas, oferece uma história detalhada e fabricada de Saldaea, que os lobos detectam instantaneamente como mentiras, e afirma firmemente sua determinação de ir a Caemlyn e Tar Valon.

Chapter 25 - The Traveling People

She comforts Perrin and promises to dance with him at Sunday if they return home. After being captured, she is bound in Bornhald's tent and answers Bornhald's questions, clarifying details about their meeting with a Warder to support Perrin's fabricated story, while reacting with fear to Byar's aggression.

Chapter 33 - The Dark Waits

Egwene appears in Rand's fever dream, mournful and accusing him of leaving them to die.

Chapter 38 - Rescue

Egwene

Acorrentada e marchando ao lado de Perrin, Egwene é acordada por Byar e recebe ajuda de Lan para escapar. Ela se reúne com Nynaeve e seu cavalo Bela, e mais tarde recebe tratamento para os pulsos, ansiosa por saber o paradeiro de Rand e Mat.

Chapter 41 - Old Friends and New Threats

Egwene is present in the library, initially gawking at Loial before listening to the discussion. She confirms the Tinkers' account of the Aiel dying and the warning about the Eye of the World. She is seen crying softly at the end of the chapter, comforted by Nynaeve.

Chapter 43 - Decisions and Apparitions

Egwene asks Loial how the Ways were made and refuses Moiraine's suggestion that she and Nynaeve should stay behind for safety. She insists on accompanying the men to the Eye of the World, stating that she cannot hide while they face danger.

Chapter 44 - The Dark Along the Ways

Egwene

Egwene goes to her horse Bela, follows the group into the cellar, and passes through the Waygate in shocked silence. She presses close to Rand in the darkness and looks as if she wishes she could rethink her decision to accompany the group into the Ways.

Chapter 45 - What Follows in Shadow

Egwene clings to Rand's arm for several bridges and later shares a moment of fear with him as the wind approaches. She hears the screaming voices of Machin Shin and is terrified by the entity's whispers.

Chapter 46 - Fal Dara

Egwene

Egwene rides Bela, shivering in the cold and observing the abandoned farms and silent crowds of Fal Dara. She joins the group in Lord Agelmar's study, where she is present when Padan Fain is brought in and reveals his connection to the Dark One.

Chapter 47 - More Tales of the Wheel

Egwene

Egwene conversa com Agelmar sobre o título de Lan, rindo das histórias dele antes que o clima mude. Ela conforta Nynaeve e cita um provérbio sobre encontrar a Luz na Sombra, expressando esperança pela redenção de Fain antes de tomar conhecimento de seus crimes.

Chapter 48 - The Blight

Egwene travels with the group, fanning herself in the heat. She expresses interest in learning illusion magic from Moiraine and enthusiastically tells the group they will all go to Tar Valon together, specifically asking Rand to be her Warder.

Chapter 49 - The Dark One Stirs

Egwene

Egwene stays with Nynaeve in the morning, then mounts her horse Bela. She rides with the group through the Blight, looking at the ruined towers and lakes. She expresses concern about reaching the Eye and asks if the Worms will follow them into the mountains, eventually staring in astonishment at the Green Man.

Chapter 50 - Meetings at the Eye

Egwene wears a garland of flowers and feels the soothing peace of the sanctuary. Upon seeing Nynaeve attacked, she attempts to channel her untrained power to help, but Rand physically pulls her away from the confrontation, and she is forced to flee with the group.

Chapter 51 - Against the Shadow

Egwene

An illusion of Egwene appears in Ba'alzamon's chamber, standing pale and frightened to torment Rand, but she blurs and dissipates when Rand denies the vision.

Chapter 52 - There Is Neither Beginning Nor End

Egwene

Egwene waits beneath the oak tree with Moiraine and Nynaeve, initially drawing back from Rand's touch out of fear before embracing him. She expresses her sorrow and loyalty to him, then helps Moiraine and listens as the treasures are revealed, remaining silent about her own feelings regarding his channeling.

Chapter 53 - The Wheel Turns

Egwene mounts her horse Bela and helps carry the weakened Moiraine on a litter. She rides through the Blight as it recedes, later finding Rand on the balcony in Fal Dara, where she pleads with him to stay with the group and come to Tar Valon, though he refuses.
