Chapter 1 - An Empty Road

He struggles with the news that he must leave home but accepts it to protect the Two Rivers, planning to tell Mat and Perrin.
Chapter 9 - Tellings of the Wheel

He fights a Trolloc on the ship, pays for passage to Whitebridge using Moiraine's coin, and remains silent and worried on deck after learning the others were not saved by the boat.
Chapter 24 - Flight Down the Arinelle

Rand travels in Hyam Kinch's cart, feeling better but anxious about their pursuers. He later suffers a severe fever in a stable, hallucinating visions of Ba’alzamon, Egwene, Moiraine, and Tam before the fever breaks. He is confronted by a pale woman attempting to kill Mat, flees the village in panic after Mat holds a dark-dagger to the woman's throat, and collapses on the road before being rescued by Kinch again.
Chapter 34 - The Last Village

Rand arrives in Caemlyn with Mat, is warned by Almen Bunt about pursuers, and leads Mat to The Queen's Blessing. He wraps his sword in red cloth and white cord to hide the heronmark, presents Thom's flute and cloak to Basel Gill, and accepts the innkeeper's offer of food and lodging while maintaining secrecy about their connection to Moiraine.
Chapter 36 - Web of the Pattern

Rand eats a meager meal with Mat and Master Gill, explaining their troubles to the innkeeper while hiding the truth about Trollocs. Later, he escapes to the library where he encounters Loial, calming his initial panic to converse with the Ogier. He shares the truth of his journey with Loial, accepts the Ogier's offer to travel together, and reflects on the safety of his friends.
Chapter 39 - Weaving of the Web
Rand
Rand leaves his room to join the celebration, ignoring Mat's refusal to come with him. He encounters Master Gill and Lamgwin, who warn him of the city's dangers and the political tension between Queen supporters and opponents. Rand climbs a high wall to watch the procession of Logain, observing the caged man's defiance. After hearing a girl's voice, he falls from the wall and blacks out.
Chapter 40 - The Web Tightens

Rand falls from the palace wall, landing in a garden where he is tended by Elayne and observed by Gawyn. He is escorted by guards to the Queen, where he is questioned about his heron-mark sword and identity. Elaida Sedai delivers a Foretelling regarding his dangerous role in the world's future. Freed by Morgase, Rand leaves the palace, unsettled by the Aes Sedai's prophecy and Gawyn's comment about his resemblance to an Aielman.
Chapter 41 - Old Friends and New Threats
Rand / Rand al'Thor
Rand runs to The Queen's Blessing, meets Lamgwin, and recounts his palace adventure to Master Gill and Loial. He watches the Whitecloak confrontation, then rejoins his friends to find Mat suffering from the dagger's corruption, where he is unable to help as Moiraine takes over the situation.
Chapter 42 - Remembrance of Dreams

He experiences a dream where Ba'alzamon claims he is their eternal enemy, waking to find his hand bleeding from a splinter that vanishes upon removal. Moiraine heals his wound and warns him that time is short.
Chapter 44 - The Dark Along the Ways

He forces his horse through the burning gate and feels the return of natural winter cold upon exiting.
Chapter 46 - Fal Dara

Rand travels with the group through the desolate landscape of Shienar, observing the frozen trees and abandoned farms. He tries to convince Nynaeve and Egwene to stay at Fal Dara for safety, but they refuse. Inside the fortress, he is led to Lord Agelmar's study where he witnesses the grim reality of the Borderlands and the arrival of Padan Fain.
Chapter 47 - More Tales of the Wheel
Rand
Rand paces restlessly in the dining hall, counting the table's length and listening to Lord Agelmar's story with unease. He questions Moiraine about Padan Fain's motives and is revealed to be ta'veren with Manetheren blood, destined to fight in the Eye of the World.
Chapter 48 - The Blight
Rand
Rand rides with the group, observing the transition from Shienar to the Blight and the growing corruption of the land. He helps set up the camp, marvels at Moiraine's illusion, and listens to Egwene's dreams of the future with mixed feelings before failing to sleep due to the heat.
Chapter 49 - The Dark One Stirs
Rand — aliases: Child of the Dragon
Rand wakes in the Blight, washes, and saddles his horse, Red. He rides with the group through the corrupting forest, striking at attacking trees with his heron-mark sword and shouting Manetheren war cries. He feels intense fear as the Worms pursue them, nearly turning back before reaching the sanctuary, where he is bewildered by the sudden change in landscape and the appearance of the Green Man.
Chapter 50 - Meetings at the Eye

Rand leads the group toward the Green Man and follows Moiraine down into the cavern of the Eye of the World. He is terrified by the presence of the pool and the arrival of the Forsaken. When Aginor and Balthamel appear, Rand grabs Egwene to stop her from rushing to Nynaeve's aid, pulls her away from the confrontation, and flees with the group as Moiraine battles Aginor.
Chapter 51 - Against the Shadow
Rand
Rand flees Aginor across the mountain, eventually being cornered on a precipice. He taps into the One Power, summoning a massive storm of fire and earth that destroys the Trolloc army. He then enters a dreamscape to confront Ba'alzamon, where he uses a blade of light to sever the Dark One's power cord and destroy his opponent's form.
Chapter 52 - There Is Neither Beginning Nor End
Rand / Rand al'Thor
Rand awakens amidst the ashes of Aginor, realizing he channeled saidin to defeat the Dark One and his general. He finds his friends, explains his survival with a lie, and listens as they unveil the treasures of the Eye, including the Horn of Valere and the Dragon banner, while grappling with their fearful reaction to his use of the One Power.
Chapter 53 - The Wheel Turns
Rand
Rand climbs into his saddle with a sense of loss, rides out of the Blight past the receding corruption, and trains with his sword on a balcony in Fal Dara while contemplating his desire to leave home alone. He confronts Egwene, refusing to go to Tar Valon or return to the Two Rivers, and resolves to vanish without telling anyone, including Moiraine, who remains unaware of his plans.
