Chapter 29 - Morrel and Company

Penelon — aliases: old sailor

He arrives with the crew of the lost Pharaon and recounts the storm and sinking in detail. He refuses full payment out of loyalty to Morrel, and is later detained by the Englishman in the courtyard for a private conversation.

Chapter 30 - September the Fifth

Penelon — aliases: helmsman, Master Penelon

Master Penelon stands on the deck of the Pharaon and waves to M. Morrel from a distance, while the crowd on the jetty identifies the ship by the name inscribed on its prow and observes its safe entry into port.

Chapter 50 - The Morrels

Penelon — aliases: the old sailor, the gardener

Penelon is digging a bed of roses in the garden. He is called by Julie to inform Emmanuel of the visitor's arrival. He still refers to Julie as 'Mademoiselle Julie' and is identified as the former bosun who recognizes the Count's emissary from a past encounter in Trieste.
