Fain sits in his cell, appearing gaunt and mad, and chants ominous verses to Rand about the Shadow and Mordeth before Egwene leads Rand away.

Padan Fain sits in his dark dungeon cell, grinning and waiting eagerly for his escape, whispering that the battle is not over.

Chapter 11 - Glimmers of the Pattern

Fain — aliases: Padan Fain

Padan Fain sits by a fire in the darkness, orders his Trollocs to kill the remaining villagers and his human Darkfriends, and secures a powerful golden chest, vowing to force Rand to come to him.

Chapter 19 - Beneath the Dagger

Fain

Fain wakes in the enemy camp to find the Horn stolen and screams for his Trollocs and Darkfriends to hunt down Rand. He uses his connection to the Dragon to sense Rand's location in the mountains, cackling with madness as he commands his forces to gather and pursue, vowing that the world will pay.

Chapter 34 - The Wheel Weaves

Fain rides into Falme and presents the Horn of Valere and the dagger to High Lord Turak. He lies about his family's loyalty to Artur Hawkwing to gain trust. Turak opens the chest, accepts the items as trophies for the Empress, but refuses to sound the Horn, dismissing Fain after he warns of Rand's pursuit.
