Chapter 45 - Blademaster

Summary

In Falme, Nynaeve al’Meara, Elayne traci’goran al’Maer al’Vaeren, and Min Farshaw ambush and capture a sul’dam named Seta to use as a disguise for their infiltration. Simultaneously, Bayle Domon waits aboard his ship with his crew for the women to board. In the city, Rand al’Thor, Ingtar Gladion, Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, and Hurin track Padan Fain to a guarded house where they spot a collared Egwene al’Vere across the street. After Mat retrieves the Horn of Valere and the Shadar Logoth dagger, Rand confronts High Lord Turak in single combat and kills him with sword forms, causing two loyal servants to commit suicide. Ingtar urges immediate retreat to secure the Horn, forcing Rand to abandon Egwene temporarily with the promise to return for her.

Characters

• Nynaeve — Nynaeve ambushes a sul’dam, uses the a’dam collar to threaten and torture her for information, and dons the sul’dam’s dress to infiltrate Falme with Min and Elayne.
• Min — Min assists Nynaeve in capturing a sul’dam, helps disguise Elayne, and prepares to board Bayle Domon’s ship to rescue Egwene.
• Elayne — Elayne helps capture a sul’dam and wears a dyed gray dress to impersonate a damane, preparing to follow Nynaeve into the lions' den to rescue her friend.

• Perrin — Perrin infiltrates the house with the group, fights Seanchan soldiers with his axe, and follows Rand and Mat out of the building.
• Hurin (the sniffer) — Hurin tracks the scent of Padan Fain, helps the group climb the garden wall, checks the window for guards, and alerts the group to approaching Seanchan.
• Turak (High Lord Turak) — High Lord Turak confronts the intruders in his home, engages Rand in a duel, and is killed by Rand's sword strikes before his servants commit suicide.
• Red — Red is the stallion Rand rides into Falme, which is tied up in the horse lots while Rand infiltrates the house on foot.
