Summary

Moiraine prepares for an audience with the Amyrlin Seat, dressed in the formal shawl of her Ajah, and is summoned by Liandrin and Anaiya. As she walks through the women's apartments to the anteroom, she encounters Lady Amalisa, observes Egwene and Rand disguised as servants, and meets several other Aes Sedai including Verin Mathwin, Serafelle, Carlinya, and Alanna. Leane escorts Moiraine into the inner chamber where Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat, reveals that Elaida has arrived and conspired with the Green and Red Ajahs to punish Moiraine for her involvement with the ta'veren. After dismissing Leane, Siuan and Moiraine share a private moment of nostalgia before revealing they are planning something secret that could lead to their stilling if discovered.
