Chapter 28 - A New Thread in the Pattern

Summary

In Kinslayer’s Dagger, Ingtar’s party encounters Urien, an Aiel Red Shield who claims to be searching for the 'He Who Comes With the Dawn.' Urien recites prophecies regarding the Dragon, including the Aes Sedai symbol, before departing into the rocks. Verin is deeply affected by the encounter, realizing the complexity of the Pattern and urging the group to ride harder, while Perrin, Mat, and Ingtar discuss the implications of Rand potentially being Aiel.

Characters

• Ingtar (Shienaran) — Ingtar questions the wolves' reports on the Shadowkiller and Fain before halting his men to confront an approaching figure. • Urien (Red Shield) — Urien, an Aiel Red Shield of the Two Spires sept, intercepts the group claiming to search for the Dragon. He recites prophecies about the Dragon's arrival and the Aes Sedai symbol, refuses to yield to the Aes Sedai's power despite expecting to die, and departs into the rocks.
