Verin sits on the floor beneath an arrowslit, sketching flowers and making notes in a book, largely ignoring the arrival of the others as she focuses on her study.

Verin stands in the dungeon guardroom with another Aes Sedai, examining the Trolloc script and blood scrawled on the walls while making notes in a small book, paying no attention to the men passing through.

Chapter 7 - Blood Calls Blood

Verin Sedai visits Egwene and Nynaeve in their tent to teach them about channeling control. She warns them of the dangers of uncontrolled power and attempts to guide Nynaeve, resulting in Nynaeve accidentally setting blankets on fire. Verin departs after the incident, having warned them about drawing too much power.

Chapter 14 - Wolfbrother

Verin rides up to the group, having been sent by Moiraine, and questions Ingtar closely about Rand's disappearance, the Ogier, and the new sniffer, riding alongside Ingtar to interrogate him privately while dismissing the idea that the Horn is related to the vanishing.

Chapter 28 - A New Thread in the Pattern

Verin is hailed as 'Wise One' by Urien and questions him about Rhuidean and the prophecies concerning the Dragon. She scrapes away the Aes Sedai symbol Urien draws, reveals her identity to him, and is left shaken by the prophecy, urging the group to ride harder to make up for lost time.

Chapter 31 - On the Scent

Verin heals Hurin and reveals her presence in Cairhien, having used her influence to guide Ingtar's party to Rand. She outlines the plan to infiltrate Barthanes's manor to retrieve the Horn and dagger, and discreetly informs the group about the male sa'angreal being excavated by the King, warning of its potential to break the world if used.

Chapter 32 - Dangerous Words

Verin enters the manor and is announced to the guests, drawing murmurs from the crowd. She instructs the group on their roles, separates Rand from the others to avoid suspicion, and stands at the center of a knot of women while the men attend to their tasks.

Verin directs the search for the Horn and learns from Rand that Fain used a Waygate guarded by the Black Wind. She dismisses Ingtar's hope of chasing the Horn normally, reveals the existence of a Waygate in Stedding Tsofu, and insists the group ride there at first light. She privately informs Rand that Mat's health is failing due to the dagger's taint.

Presses for speed into the stedding and orders Ingtar to reduce the armed guard. She shouts for the fighting to stop when Aiel advance, then bows to Ogier Juin before being led away to the Elders.

Verin pleads the group's case to the Elders and touches Trayal to confirm his emptiness. She approaches the Waygate with Verin and is forced to close it after Rand warns of the Black Wind. She acknowledges the danger of using the Ways and later reveals knowledge of Portal Stones to solve the problem. She accepts Alar’s direction to the nearby Stone, ending their time in Stedding Tsofu.

Chapter 37 - What Might Be

Verin guides Rand in using the Stone, explaining its mechanics and the risks involved. After the chaotic arrival on Toman Head, she calms Ingtar’s panic and declares they must ride west immediately to begin their search, refusing Rand’s request to avoid her help.

Chapter 41 - Disagreements

Verin insists that Fain is in Falme based on dungeon prophecies and warns of the Seanchan danger. She tells Rand he must make his own choice but warns against going alone. She remains calm amidst the arguing, later noting that the Wheel weaves as it wills.
