マイドラールの上空に浮かぶ覆面人物、バアルザモンがダークの信奉者たちの集会に語りかけ、グレートロードの帰還の近さを告げ、パターンの中心にある三人の若者たちを明らかにする。

Ba'alzamon — aliases: Father of Lies (嘘の父)

バアルザモンがランドの前に現れた霧の中で姿を現し、焼け焦げた顔を見せ、二人の運命が結びついていると主張する。彼はシャドウへの奉仕と引き換えに力と不死を約束し、ランドにワンパワーをチャネルするよう誘惑する。拒絶したランドの後に姿を消し、魔法の炎の幻を残して去った。

Ba'alzamon appears in Rand's dream holding the Dragon's banner, revealing his burned face and fiery eyes. He taunts Rand as Lews Therin, offering him power to stop the madness of the One Power in exchange for service, and vanishes after Rand declares his true name, leaving charred finger marks on the chair.
