Chapter 1 - Waiting

Perrin / Perrin Aybara

Perrin sits his horse Stepper, waiting in the mountains with his men. He shoots a raven that appears to be spying on them, then guides the arriving Tinker woman Leya to their camp, engaging her in a brief, tense discussion about violence and pacifism before leading her into the bowl where the Dragon Reborn's banner flies.

Chapter 2 - Saidin

Perrin

Perrin tends to the camp, shares a tense conversation with Min about Leya’s vision, and later confronts Rand in a secluded vale to discuss Rand’s turmoil over his duty and his ability to channel Saidin, which manifests as a violent earth tremor.

Chapter 3 - News from the Plain

Perrin / Perrin Aybara

Perrin observes the damage caused by the tremor and Moiraine's anger, then checks on Min by the cook fires, suggesting she leave the group for her safety. He later listens to Moiraine's intelligence briefing, accepts Uno's offer of the third watch, and retreats to his hut to sleep.

Chapter 4 - Shadows Sleeping

Perrin sits before a fire in the common room, where he experiences a dream of a man in shadows urging him to give up his axe. He later dreams of wearing gold armor and being tempted by a beautiful woman with red wine, but he rejects the vision of glory. In the final dream, he hides behind a stone railing as three men argue before being engulfed in fire, then walks toward the angreal Callandor while hearing a wolf warn him of the Twisted Ones, before waking up in his hut.

Chapter 5 - Nightmares Walking

Perrin wakes to the Trolloc attack and rushes to save Leya, only to witness her death at the hands of a Myrddraal. Transformed into the wolf Young Bull, he kills the Halfman and hunts the remaining Shadowspawn before regaining his human form to tend to the fallen wolves, after which Moiraine heals his wounds.

Chapter 6 - The Hunt Begins

Perrin confronts Moiraine about Rand's departure and his own dreams, eventually agreeing to join her in chasing after the Dragon Reborn. Later, Min reveals her new visions to him, and he struggles with the implications of her warning about a beautiful woman.

Chapter 7 - The Way Out of the Mountains

Perrin

Rides with the group down the mountains, feeling the presence of wolves he keeps suppressed. He attempts to fish for trout but is outperformed by Moiraine, who subtly compels him and Loial to take over her chores, a control he resists internally while accepting practically.

Chapter 8 - Jarra

Perrin

Perrin follows Moiraine into the inn, questions Simion about Rand's whereabouts, and later accompanies Moiraine to view the transformed Noam. He frees Noam from his cage, realizing the man is now a wolf, and arranges for Simion to bring him food in his room to hide his yellow eyes from the villagers.

Chapter 9 - Wolf Dreams

Perrin questions Moiraine about his risk of losing himself to the wolf persona, learns of the dream world connection, and ignores his food. He then enters a dream where he meets Hopper and a man in yellow clothes before waking up covered in blood from the dream.

Chapter 27 - Tel’aran’rhiod

In Tel'aran'rhiod, Egwene sees Perrin chained to a black stone pillar in a dark room, struggling to hold the chain, while a wolf guards him.

Chapter 33 - Within the Weave

Perrin

Rides alongside the group toward Remen, reflecting on the moral ambiguity of the Pattern and the strange occurrences that follow Rand. He observes a caged Aiel in the town square and enters the inn, where he notices a plain-dressed woman staring at him with intensity.

Chapter 34 - A Different Dance

Perrin — aliases: wetlander, blacksmith

Perrin worries about a staring stranger and Min's visions before releasing the caged Aiel Gaul. He fights alongside Gaul against the Whitecloaks, killing several men with his axe, and is then angrily reprimanded by Lan for the danger caused.

Chapter 35 - The Falcon

Perrin hurries to escape Remen, packing his gear and sneaking down to the stables where Lan arranges horses. He boards the Snow Goose, keeps a watchful eye on the animals, and confronts Zarine when she jumps aboard, dismissing her claims about the Horn and warning her that the Mountains of Mist are dangerous. He rejects her proposed name Mandarb for a stallion on the ship before she adopts the name Faile.

Chapter 36 - Daughter of the Night

Perrin sleeps in a cabin and dreams of Ba'alzamon and Lanfear in a mirror-filled realm, witnessing their power. He sees Rand fighting Myrddraal, is struck by light causing a burn on his chest, and wakes to report the vision to Moiraine, who cautions him about the Red Ajah before he encounters Zarine on deck.

Chapter 41 - A Hunter’s Oath

Perrin watches the harbor of Illian from the Snow Goose, analyzing the social dynamics between Moiraine and Zarine. He reluctantly agrees to carry Zarine behind him on Stepper after Moiraine assigns him responsibility for her, then rides into the city while suppressing his frustration at being forced to guard the young woman.

Chapter 42 - Easing the Badger

Perrin rides into Illian on his horse Stepper, observing the city's oppressive atmosphere and the hidden anger of its inhabitants. At the inn, he recognizes the stench of the Shadow on six men and brutally kills them with a chair leg to prevent an assassination attempt, saving his companions.

Chapter 43 - Shadowbrothers

Perrin identifies the scent of Gray Men and traces a Darkhound's paw prints in stone outside the inn before returning to his room. He enters a wolf dream where he sees visions of Mat, Egwene, Nynaeve, and Elayne, and receives warnings from Hopper about the Last Hunt and the Shadowbrothers. He wakes to find Zarine in his room and is then met by Moiraine, who informs him of a Forsaken in the city.

Chapter 44 - Hunted

Perrin dresses and escapes the inn with his companions, fleeing Illian on Stepper. He sets a fresh bowstring while standing beside Moiraine on a mound, then shoots three arrows at the approaching Darkhounds, managing to kill one before Moiraine intervenes with forbidden fire to destroy the pack.

Chapter 50 - The Hammer

Perrin rides Stepper into Tear and observes the defeated atmosphere of the city. He works in a smithy as an apprentice to Dermid Ajala, crafting a tool and earning a hammer. He later joins Moiraine, Lan, and the others for a briefing about the Forsaken Be'lal before returning to his room to reflect on the hammer and his axe.

Chapter 53 - A Flow of the Spirit

Perrin returns to the inn tired from smithing and meets Moiraine and Lan in the hallway, where he learns of Rand's presence and a deadly trap awaiting Zarine. After finding Faile comatose, he argues with Moiraine, then enters the wolf dream alongside Loial to search for her, transforming into the wolf Young Bull and armed with his hammer.

Chapter 54 - Into the Stone

In the dream world, Perrin transforms into the wolf Young Bull and hunts Shadowspawn guarding a locked door. He shatters the chains binding Faile on a stone block, but she vanishes, prompting him to vow to hunt again with his hammer in hand.

Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy

Perrin / Young Bull — aliases: my poor blacksmith, the blacksmith

Perrin hunts in Tel’aran’rhiod, finds Faile chained to a falcon perch, and breaks her free despite being attacked by shadow falcons. He wakes in the Star inn with Faile kneeling over him.
