Summary

Egwene, Nynaeve, and Elayne analyze Verin’s list of suspected Black Ajah sisters and stolen ter’angreal, debating the significance of their distribution and discussing the possibility of Verin’s complicity. They decide that Egwene will use a twisted stone ring ter’angreal to dream, with Nynaeve reluctantly acquiescing to Egwene's claim that her potential as a Dreamer offers the best chance of success. Their discussion is interrupted by the novice Else Grinwell, who delivers a message from the Amyrlin regarding Liandrin’s abandoned belongings; Egwene chases Else down the corridors but is intercepted and dismissed by a mysterious, towering woman dressed in silver and white silk who then vanishes into thin air.

She argues for her own use of the ring in the dream world due to her potential as a Dreamer, then chases Else Grinwell through the White Tower corridors where she encounters a commanding woman in silver silk.
• Nynaeve — Pacing the room, Nynaeve expresses frustration over the lack of useful information in Verin’s list of suspects and the stolen ter’angreal. She agrees to accompany Egwene into the dream with the stone ring, ensuring safeguards are in place, and reacts angrily to Else’s interruption before Egwene rushes after the novice.
• Else — The novice Else Grinwell enters the room without knocking to deliver a message from the Amyrlin Seat regarding the location of Liandrin’s belongings. She then runs away from the room, pursued by Egwene, and disappears around a corner before Egwene can catch her.
• The (The woman in silver and white silk) — A tall, exceptionally beautiful woman dressed entirely in silver and white silk appears in the gallery, blocking Egwene’s pursuit of Else. She speaks to Egwene with commanding authority, causing Egwene to turn away, and then vanishes completely from the empty gallery, leaving Egwene confused and unable to locate her.
