Summary

Nynaeve, Egwene, and Elayne visit Mat Cauthon in his quarters to persuade him to deliver a letter to Queen Morgase in Caemlyn, which would also serve as an excuse to remove him from Tar Valon under the guise of the Amyrlin's orders. Mat initially resists their flattery and political appeals, citing the Amyrlin's restriction on his movements, until Nynaeve confirms his full recovery by channeling. The trio then presents him with a letter of authority bearing Siuan Sanche’s seal, successfully convincing him to accept the mission and plan his departure from the city, leaving his companions amused by his reaction to a joke about needing heroes "today".
