Chapter 10 - Secrets

Nynaeve

Nynaeve travels as an Accepted and uses her weather-sensing abilities to sense a storm of men. She channels the Power during the attack to harass the Whitecloaks and expresses concern for Mat's worsening fever and her own inability to Heal him without her medicines.

Chapter 11 - Tar Valon

Nynaeve

Nynaeve rides into Tar Valon, visibly frustrated by Hurin's departure and Verin's warnings about the Tower's dangers. She is ordered by Sheriam to remain silent and confined, and she glares at Faolain, an Accepted who mocks her status as a wilder, before allowing Theodrin to lead her away.

Chapter 13 - Punishments

Nynaeve arrives at the Amyrlin’s study escorted by Theodrin. She attempts to defend herself by citing Liandrin’s deception but is silenced by Siuan. She is assigned to kitchen labor alongside the others and is promoted to Accepted, though she remains tense and wary of the Amyrlin’s authority.

Chapter 14 - The Bite of the Thorns

Nynaeve questions Siuan's motives and the feasibility of their mission, initially trying to refuse on behalf of Egwene. Realizing the danger of the Black Ajah, she volunteers herself, prompting Egwene to volunteer as well to hunt the traitors, both expressing relief at not having to wait passively for the truth.

Chapter 15 - The Gray Man

Nynaeve leads Egwene through the halls, theorizing about threats and checking Elayne's room before pulling Egwene out of the way of a crossbow bolt. She uses Air to immobilize the Gray Man, examines the stabbed corpse with Sheriam, and uses Air to create a protective dome over the body. She questions Sheriam's actions and later urges Egwene to remember the danger of the Black Ajah and the Gray Men.

Chapter 16 - Hunters Three

Nynaeve hosts Egwene and Elayne in her larger Accepted quarters. She forcefully commands Galad and Gawyn to leave, using the lack of permission to enter as leverage, and later reveals the Amyrlin's secret mission to hunt the Black Ajah. She decides to attempt healing Mat herself and suggests combining their power to avoid burning herself out.

Chapter 17 - The Red Sister

Nynaeve attempts to leave but is stopped by Elaida. She firmly defends the Amyrlin's orders to Elaida and later challenges Sheriam's account of the Soulless cover-up. Despite her defiance, she complies with Sheriam's orders to proceed to the healing chamber.

Chapter 18 - Healing

Nynaeve

Nynaeve is escorted by Sheriam to the healing chamber, where she feels the overwhelming pull of the Power used to break the dagger's bond. She watches Mat's struggle with the urge to channel herself, eventually restraining her desire to interfere. After the Healing, she asks about Mat's survival, and the Amyrlin confirms he will live, noting that he spoke of Aes Sedai, not just battle, before leaving with the others.

Chapter 23 - Sealed

Nynaeve al'Meara sits with Elayne, soothing her tears and holding both Egwene and Elayne as they grieve over their terrifying visions of the future. She promises that they will one day make their captors pay for what they have seen.

Chapter 25 - Questions

Nynaeve

Nynaeve paces the room while discussing the Black Ajah list with her friends, expressing frustration at the lack of obvious patterns in the suspects' details. She agrees to let Egwene use the Dreaming ring despite her own stronger channeling ability, and later agrees with Egwene that suspicion should not be cast on Alanna without more evidence, before Else arrives.

Chapter 26 - Behind a Lock

Nynaeve leads Egwene and Elayne into the library basement, opens a locked storeroom with a magically elongated prybar, and examines the contents of the Black Ajah bags, identifying them as bait.

Chapter 27 - Tel’aran’rhiod

Nynaeve

Nynaeve stays awake to guard Egwene as she sleeps in the World of Dreams, waking in alarm when Egwene screams in pain. Upon Egwene's return, Nynaeve helps secure the group's return to reality, confirms the location of the Black Ajah based on Egwene's report, and agrees to the plan to flee Tar Valon on a trading ship.

Chapter 28 - A Way Out

Nynaeve al'Meara leads the effort to smuggle Mat out of Tar Valon, using a stern, authoritative demeanor to pressure him into accepting their plan. She channels the One Power to prove to Mat that he is healthy enough to travel and reveals the order bearing Siuan Sanche's seal that will facilitate their departure.

Chapter 29 - A Trap to Spring

Nynaeve works the roasting spit in the kitchens while secretly reporting their findings in the library storeroom to Siuan Sanche. She realizes Else Grinwell was sent away by the Amyrlin, confirming a trap, and asks Siuan about Callandor before preparing to leave Tar Valon.

Chapter 37 - Fires in Cairhien

Nynaeve — aliases: Aes Sedai

Nynaeve takes charge of the stranded ship's situation, ordering Captain Ellisor to ferry the women ashore at Jurene to avoid wasting time. She insists on walking the shorter distance to the village rather than waiting for the ship to be freed and suppresses her anger at the Captain's fear of the Aes Sedai.

Chapter 38 - Maidens of the Spear

Nynaeve confronts the Aiel with calm authority and later heals Dailin using a mixture of herbs and the One Power. She expresses disdain for the Aiel's warrior mentality while commanding them to care for the healed woman, revealing her wilder heritage through her integrated channeling.

Chapter 39 - Threads in the Pattern

Nynaeve

Nynaeve heals Dailin completely using the One Power and herbs, displays authority over the Aiel, and is captured by brigands. She recovers, heals a dying Elayne, and uses balefire to annihilate the Myrddraal, then secures passage on the Darter.

Chapter 48 - Following the Craft

Nynaeve — aliases: Maryim, Mistress Maryim

Nynaeve battles persistent vomiting and uses her herbal expertise to impress Mother Guenna, establishing herself as a practitioner of the craft rather than an Aes Sedai. She secures rooms for the group and hires Juilin Sandar as a thief-catcher to track the Black Ajah, defending her manipulative tactics when challenged by Elayne.
