The second guard at the sally gate, Masema has deep-set, unblinking eyes and a perpetual frown. He criticizes Rand's bow and firmly opposes allowing Rand to leave the keep, reinforcing the gate closure order.

Masema serves stew to the camp, giving Rand a hostile look until Uno intervenes. He later helps pull the ferry across the river and searches the empty village.
Chapter 14 - Wolfbrother

Masema participates in the track search and spits skeptically at the news of Perrin being a sniffer, though he rides with the group after the initial doubt.

Masema drops his lance and gallops toward the stranger until ordered to halt. He remains on horseback with the others, glaring at Urien, and later growls that they should have left the Aiel for the ravens.

Masema weeps openly with tears streaming down his face during and after the chaotic event at the Stone.
Chapter 41 - Disagreements
Masema
Masema gallops ahead to scout and reports that the next village is completely empty and partially destroyed. He looks at Rand with tightening eyes but does not address him directly.
