Chapter 3 - Friends and Enemies

Egwene finds Rand hiding and insists he stop running. She leads him to the dungeon to hide, visits Padan Fain, and then proposes that Rand disguise himself as her servant to conceal himself in the women’s apartments, where he will be safe from search.

Chapter 4 - Summoned

Egwene is observed by Moiraine from a distance in the side hall, disguised as a servant. She hurries around a corner with a stooped figure at her heels, carrying bundles, appearing to move with initiative.

Chapter 6 - Dark Prophecy

Egwene lies unconscious in the dungeon after being struck in the head. Moiraine tends to her, causing her to sleep, and orders her to be returned to her room with a watcher.

Chapter 7 - Blood Calls Blood

Egwene is described as sleeping in her room, recovering from her head injury, though she does not physically appear in the scenes.

Chapter 8 - The Dragon Reborn

Egwene packs her clothes and speaks with Nynaeve about her departure to Tar Valon. A knock at the door interrupts them, and Nisura enters with news of Rand. Egwene later meets Rand in the hallway, delivering a stern farewell and expressing her desire to help him, before he departs. She is watched by other women in the women's apartments during this encounter.

Egwene travels with the Amyrlin's party, receives channeling lessons from Verin Mathwin, and boards the River Queen in Medo after learning of Moiraine's disappearance. She confides in Anaiya about a dream warning of Rand's peril, who speculates Egwene may be a Dreamer.

Chapter 18 - To the White Tower

Egwene travels on the River Queen, worrying about dreams of Rand's danger and receiving a stern but encouraging channeling lesson from the Amyrlin Seat. Upon reaching Tar Valon, she is assigned to novice training by Sheriam and follows her into the city, where Sheriam promises to see them settled in their rooms.

Chapter 24 - New Friends and Old Enemies

Egwene navigates her first day as a novice, sweeping and washing dishes under the direction of an Accepted named Pedra. She is paired with Elayne, discovers her ability to channel alongside Elayne, and forms a friendship with Min and Elayne. She is briefly charmed by Galad but attempts to steady herself before continuing with her duties.

Chapter 38 - Practice

Egwene

Egwene practices channeling tiny balls of light with Nynaeve and Elayne in her room. She listens to Liandrin’s warning about the Black Ajah and Rand’s danger, and after Liandrin departs, Egwene agrees to the secret mission to Toman Head, vowing to help her friend.

Chapter 39 - Flight from the White Tower

Egwene

Egwene disguises herself in fine dress to escape the Tower, rides her horse Bela through the Stedding and into the Ways, and endures the dark, exhausting journey while reflecting on her feelings for Rand and listening to Elayne's teasing.

Chapter 40 - Damane

Egwene is collared by Renna and forced to join the Seanchan column, enduring painful unseen blows for resisting orders and failing to channel a tree. She pleads for Min Farshaw's life, accepting her status as a damane to save her friend, and rides west with the Seanchan, resolving to find a way to escape.

Chapter 42 - Falme

Egwene resides in a bare room, secretly channeling to probe her collar while watching sul'dam below. When Min visits, she reveals she is being trained to find ores and has lost the ability to touch weapons due to the collar's conditioning. Renna later enters, punishes Egwene for channeling, and strips her of her name, forcing her to answer to 'Tuli'.

Chapter 46 - To Come Out of the Shadow

Egwene is freed from her collar by Nynaeve and attacks Renna to protect herself. She reveals the nature of sul'dam to the others and uses the One Power to blast Seanchan soldiers to help her friends escape, vowing never to return to her collar.

Chapter 48 - First Claiming

Egwene enters the room where Min is keeping warm with Rand, staring at them by the firelight. She explains that she felt Rand pulling at her, warns Min that Rand is not safe for them, and leaves to bring Nynaeve with her back straight and head high.
