Siuan paces her ornate study and checks a warded nightwood box before receiving Verin. She expresses relief that the false Dragons have been removed and listens as Verin reveals the location of the Horn of Valere and the dying condition of Matrim Cauthon. Siuan orders the Horn hidden, minimizes the threat of the Seanchan, and demands a full report on the runaway sisters.

Siuan enters Mat's room with Leane, sharply curtailing his attempts to leave and revealing that his name and description have been sent to the guards. She forces him to acknowledge his link to the Horn of Valere, explaining that he is being kept in Tar Valon to prevent Darkfriends from seizing the horn and to ensure he remains healthy enough to sound it when needed.

Chapter 29 - A Trap to Spring

Siuan storms into the kitchen to terrorize the staff into submission, then privately reveals to Nynaeve that she sent no message and that Else Grinwell was sent away on a trading vessel. She authorizes their escape, provides gold, explains the political significance of Callandor to the High Lords of Tear, and praises Laras to maintain appearances.
