ガウィンとガラドはナイーヴの部屋で座っており、エレーヌの失踪についての説明を迫り、彼女の頑固さを批判している。妹が話を聞こうとしないことにイライラしていたガウィンだが、ナイーヴが彼らに詰め寄った際にガラドに黙らされ、最終的にカウントアウトされた後、部屋を突然出ていった。

Gawyn practices swordplay with his brother Galad under the observation of Aes Sedai and Accepted. He recognizes Mat, accepts his wager, and is struck down by Mat's quarterstaff. Afterward, he learns Galad is being tended to by Green Ajah sisters and offers Mat sympathy regarding his condition.
