Master Hightower is a narrow-faced ferryman who initially refuses to cross in the fog. He is bribed by Lan with gold and leaves to rouse his haulers to take the group across the river.

Chapter 12 - Across the Taren

Hightower — aliases: the ferryman (il traghettatore), Master Hightower (Maestro Hightower)

Il Maestro Hightower incontra il gruppo al molo del traghetto, sospettoso e chiarisce le condizioni di pagamento prima di permettere loro di imbarcarsi. Guida il traghetto attraverso il fiume, entra in panico quando la nave viene distrutta e fugge nella nebbia dopo che Lan lo paga, seguito dai suoi aiutatori terrorizzati.
