Chapter 36 - Web of the Pattern
Loial — aliases: the Ogier (l'Ogier), son of Arent son of Halan (figlio di Arent, figlio di Halan)
Loial appare nella biblioteca, sovrastando Rand con la sua statura imponente e le orecchie folte di peli. Intrattiene con Rand una lunga conversazione sulla storia degli Ogier, sul Pattern e sulla distruzione delle antiche radure, identificando infine Rand come un ta'veren e chiedendo di unirsi al suo gruppo.
Chapter 41 - Old Friends and New Threats

Loial gioca a una partita di pietre con il Maestro Gill e identifica Rand come ta'veren. Declina l'invito a entrare nella sala comune durante l'incontro con i Whitecloak e in seguito accetta di viaggiare con Rand verso Tar Valon.

Loial is sprawled on a couch reading with a cat on his stomach. He answers questions about the stedding and shares a story about a man who fled Stedding Shangtai with a warning about the Eye of the World. He confirms he knows the Songs of Growing and the Ways, but vehemently refuses to lead the group into the Ways, stating they will die or be swallowed by the Shadow.
Chapter 43 - Decisions and Apparitions
Loial — aliases: Ogier (Ogier), son of Arent son of Halan (figlio di Arent, figlio di Halan)
Loial explains the creation of the Ways by male Aes Sedai during the Time of Madness and their subsequent corruption by Machin Shin. He reluctantly agrees to guide the group through the Ways to Fal Dara after Moiraine explains the threat of the Eye of the World to the Dark One.
Chapter 44 - The Dark Along the Ways
Loial — aliases: Ogier (Ogier)
Loial leads the party to the Waygate, complaining about the dark and the destruction of the groves. He activates the gate, enters the Ways, and guides the group along the white line and bridges, reading the Ogier script on the Guidings to determine their path until he spots a broken bridge ahead.
Chapter 45 - What Follows in Shadow

Loial reads the script on the Guiding and identifies the Trolloc runes. He panics at the approach of Machin Shin, crying out in despair, and guides the group to the correct bridge to escape the Black Wind.
Chapter 46 - Fal Dara
Loial — aliases: Ogier (Ogier), Builder (Costruttore)
Loial viaggia con il gruppo, rattristato dalla distruzione del bosco degli Ogier. Scambia i saluti formali con le guardie di Fal Dara e parla con Lord Agelmar riguardo all'assenza del bosco. Rimane presente nello studio durante lo scontro con Fain.
Chapter 47 - More Tales of the Wheel

Loial examines the walls of the dining hall, tracing stone joins and muttering in Ogier. He confirms the beauty of Manetheren and listens intently to the discussion of Lan Mandragoran's history.
Chapter 48 - The Blight
Loial — aliases: Builder (Costruttore)
Loial travels with the group, sweating and muttering about the heat and the foul smell of the Blight. He helps set up the Warder's stove and, upon seeing the corruption, expresses his disgust and sorrow at the Dark One's destruction of nature.
Chapter 49 - The Dark One Stirs
Loial — aliases: the Ogier (l'Ogier)
Loial travels with the group, moaning about the dangers ahead and the Worms. He explains that Worms can kill Fades. Upon reaching the sanctuary, he scrambles down from his horse to formally bow to the Green Man, greeting him as Treebrother.
Chapter 50 - Meetings at the Eye
Loial
Loial enters the cavern with the group and expresses unease at the sight of the Eye of the World. He is silenced by Aginor's glare and flees into the trees with the others when Aginor advances through Moiraine's fire.
Chapter 52 - There Is Neither Beginning Nor End

Loial trasporta il pesante scranno dorato contenente il Corno di Valere e aiuta a dispiegare lo stendardo del Drago. Moiraine gli chiede se sa leggere la Lingua Antica, ed egli legge l'iscrizione in Lingua Antica, meravigliandosi dei tesori. Esprime la sua gioia per l'interesse verso i libri e per i pericoli che hanno affrontato.
Chapter 53 - The Wheel Turns

Loial refuses to mount immediately, kneeling before the oak that replaced the Green Man to sing a Tree Song that restores life to a small circle of flowers and grass. He later carries the golden chest containing the Horn of Valere into Lord Agelmar's study and complies with Moiraine's orders.
