Rand struggles to channel Saidin during the battle, setting trees on fire instead of stopping the attack, and later suffers from a reopened wound at Falme which Moiraine heals, leading him to resolve to fight despite his fears.

Chapter 9 - Wolf Dreams

Rand

Rand hides under trees in the night, watching a waist-high dog approach. He channels Saidin to destroy the dog, struggles with the taint and nausea, and then continues his eastward journey toward Tear while ignoring the howls of other dogs.

Chapter 22 - The Price of the Ring

Rand — aliases: husband, Dragon Reborn

Rand appears in Egwene's visions as her husband, suffering from headaches and strange phenomena, and later trapped under rubble in a ruined palace, begging her to kill him to prevent him from being turned to the Shadow. In the Traitor's Court vision, he stands chained and swaying, waiting to be gentled.

Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy

Rand / Lews Therin / Kinslayer / Rand al'Thor — aliases: the Dragon Reborn (el Dragón Renacido), the Breaker of the World (El Rompedor del Mundo), the hunter (el cazador)

Rand entra en el Corazón de la Piedra y se enfrenta a Be’lal y Ba’zalmon, luchando con Callandor y saidin. Finalmente mata a Ba’zalmon, estabiliza la realidad y se proclama a sí mismo el Dragón Renacido mientras los hombres velados y los defensores se arrodillan ante él.

Chapter 56 - People of the Dragon

Rand / Rand al'Thor — aliases: the Dragon Reborn (el Dragón Renacido), He Who Comes With the Dawn (El Que Viene Con El Amanecer), the Lord Dragon (el Señor Dragón)

Mat ve brevemente a Rand atravesando un pasillo con Callandor, rodeado por Aiel y Defensores, lo que confirma su presencia en la Piedra.
