Zarine Bashere leaps onto the Snow Goose, reveals she is a Hunter of the Horn looking for the Horn in the Mountains of Mist, and adopts the names Mandarb and Faile for her travels, insisting on accompanying Perrin’s group.

Chapter 41 - A Hunter’s Oath

Zarine, insisting she is called Faile, boldly negotiates her place in the group by swearing a Hunter’s oath to Moiraine to heed commands and ask no questions. She then attempts to mount Perrin's horse, requiring him to lift her onto Stepper's back.
Chapter 42 - Easing the Badger

Zarine travels with the group, mocking Perrin's shyness and eating her fish with disgust. She retrieves a knife from a dead Gray Man during the fight and argues with Moiraine about her lack of information regarding the danger they face.
Chapter 43 - Shadowbrothers
Zarine / Faile — aliases: girl, Hunter of the Horn
Zarine listens to the group's discovery of the Darkhound and initially challenges Lan's severity. She stays with Perrin in their room, questioning his identity and ta'veren status, before watching him wake from his dream.
Chapter 44 - Hunted
Zarine — aliases: Mandarb (Mandarb)
Zarine se niega a jurar un juramento para tomar otro camino, eligiendo seguir al grupo. Monta un sementalo castaño ofrecido por Lan y cabalga junto a Perrin. Cuestiona a Moiraine sobre la amenaza y el poder que utilizó, mostrando asombro de que Mat hubiera tocado el Cuerno de Valere.
Chapter 50 - The Hammer
Zarine / Faile — aliases: mistress
Zarine, who insists on being called Faile, questions the group about their destination and the danger of the Forsaken. After reaffirming her commitment to the hunt despite her fear, she remains with the group.
Chapter 53 - A Flow of the Spirit
Zarine / Faile — aliases: Fai (Fai), falcon (halcón)
Zarine camina con Perrin hacia la posada y entra con entusiasmo en su sala de comedor privada para encontrar a Moiraine. Se desploma en el suelo, atrapada por un ter'angreal de erizo, apareciendo sin vida con el corazón detenido mientras su conciencia es arrastrada al Mundo de los Sueños.
Chapter 54 - Into the Stone
Faile
Faile aparece en el sueño de Perrin como una visión encadenada a un bloque de piedra, le sonríe mientras la libera y luego se desvanece cuando el sueño cambia.
Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy

Faile appears in the dream chained to a perch, protected by the falcons. Perrin breaks her chain, and she kneels over him in the waking world, wiping blood from his face and calling him her poor blacksmith. She is physically present in the dining room of the Star inn, unconscious in the dream but awake in reality.
