Gawyn sits with Galad in Nynaeve's room, pressing Elayne for an explanation of her disappearance and criticizing her stubbornness. He is frustrated by their sister's refusal to listen and is silenced by Galad when Nynaeve confronts them, finally exiting the room abruptly after being counted out.

Gawyn practica esgrima con su hermano Galad bajo la observación de Aes Sedai y Accepted. Reconoce a Mat, acepta su apuesta y es derrotado por el bastón de media caña de Mat. Posteriormente, se entera de que Galad está siendo atendido por hermanas de la Ajah Verde y ofrece a Mat su simpatía respecto a su condición.
