Ingtar confronts a Myrddraal with Rand in the corridors, later reporting to Rand that the Horn of Valere was stolen from the strongroom and that Lord Agelmar has tripled the guard on the gates. He expresses anger and shame over the losses.
Chapter 9 - Leavetakings

Ingtar prepares to ride with the Gray Owl banner, kisses his sword blade after swearing to find the Horn, and introduces Hurin to the group. He directs Hurin to follow the scent of the Trollocs southward.
Chapter 10 - The Hunt Begins

Ingtar commands the relentless pursuit southward, adjusting the pace to preserve the horses while trying to close the gap with the Darkfriends. He orders the burial of Changu and Nidao’s flayed bodies on the south bank, then leads the party across the River Erinin into an abandoned village where the group finds a dead Myrddraal pinned to a door.
Chapter 11 - Glimmers of the Pattern

Ingtar commands the camp setup and reveals to Rand that Lord Agelmar and Moiraine have designated him as second-in-command of the lances if Ingtar dies, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the chain of command.

Ingtar demands Uno search the hollow again after the disappearance of Rand and the others, expressing frustration and doubt about Hurin's loyalty. He secretly agrees to Perrin's claim that wolves track the Darkfriends, concocts a story that Perrin is a new sniffer to fool the men, and rides south with Verin Sedai, allowing her to question him privately while keeping Perrin's secret hidden from the rest of the group.
Chapter 28 - A New Thread in the Pattern

Ingtar questions the wolves' reports on the Shadowkiller and Fain before halting his men to confront an approaching figure. He dismounts to speak with Urien, expressing disappointment when the Aiel provides no information on Trollocs, and later orders the men to remove their armor upon nearing Cairhien to avoid appearing hostile.

Chapter 31 - On the Scent

Ingtar arrives in Cairhien and confronts Rand about the lost Horn and dagger. He plays stones with Perrin and initially struggles to accept Rand's authority, though he eventually agrees to Verin's plan. He expresses frustration at having to wait and concern over the sa'angreal being unearthed by King Galldrian.
Chapter 32 - Dangerous Words

Ingtar accompanies Rand into the manor to lend his title's prestige, receives a wary reception from the nobles, and then drifts into the crowd to mingle away from the center of attention.
Chapter 33 - A Message from the Dark

Ingtar is separated from the group by noblewomen while the others search for the Horn. He regroups with Verin, learns the Horn has vanished through a Waygate via Rand's report, and expresses deep despair, feeling lost. He remains skeptical but agrees to have his soldiers ready to ride.
Chapter 35 - Stedding Tsofu

Grides while riding but obeys Verin's orders, remaining mounted as Aiel appear. He loosens his sword in its scabbard and draws it when the Aiel advance. He sheathes his weapon after Juin intervenes and later expresses surprise that the Aiel ceased their charge, noting they would likely have been as unstoppable as an avalanche had they continued.
Chapter 36 - Among the Elders

Ingtar bows formally to the Elders and argues for the necessity of the Horn. He is angry when the Waygate is deemed unusable and announces his decision to return to Cairhien to force Lord Barthanes to reveal the Darkfriends' trail. He leaves the group at the Waygate.
Chapter 37 - What Might Be
Ingtar
Ingtar expresses doubt about the necessity of using the Stone but vows to follow Verin to recover the Horn. He is shaken by the time distortion but is soothed by Verin’s touch before the group departs.
Chapter 41 - Disagreements
Ingtar
Haggard and skeptical of Verin's prophecy, Ingtar argues that they must trust their own senses and search the ground for Fain. He dismisses the idea that Fain is in Falme without proof and orders Uno to search the village while directing Hurin to swing wide with disguised soldiers to find a trail.
Chapter 44 - Five Will Ride Forth

Ingtar oversees the camp preparations, accepts Verin's prophecy that Fain has gone to Falme, and orders the group to saddle their horses for a night ride. He directs Uno to keep the rest of the soldiers hidden behind the main party.
Chapter 45 - Blademaster

Ingtar leads the group into the house, kills a guard, retrieves the Horn alongside Mat, argues with Rand about leaving Egwene, and urges immediate retreat.
Chapter 46 - To Come Out of the Shadow
Ingtar / Lord Ingtar
Ingtar confesses to Rand that he was a Darkfriend who intended to sound the Horn for his own salvation, resolves to sacrifice himself to hold off the Seanchan patrol, and dies facing the enemy.
Chapter 47 - The Grave Is No Bar to My Call

Ingtar shouts a final battle cry and engages the Seanchan forces to cover Rand's escape, sacrificing himself in the ensuing chaos.
