Padan Fain, now dominant over his Trollocs and Darkfriends, commands the slaughter of villagers to slow the pursuers. He asserts control over the surviving humans, who beg for mercy, and prepares to open an ornate chest while vowing to catch Rand.
Chapter 19 - Beneath the Dagger
Fain
Fain wakes to discover the Horn of Valere is missing from his camp and screams for his Trollocs and Darkfriends to find Rand. He stands over his fire, realizing a dark connection pulls him toward the mountains and vowing that Rand and the world will pay for the theft.
Chapter 33 - A Message from the Dark
Fain / Padan Fain — aliases: Jak o' the Wisps
Padan Fain is the subject of the message delivered to Rand by Barthanes, threatening to hunt Rand's blood and people if he does not follow him to Toman Head, where he claims to be waiting with the Horn.
Chapter 34 - The Wheel Weaves

Fain arrives in Falme and presents the Horn of Valere and the Shadar Logoth dagger to High Lord Turak. He lies about his family's oath to Artur Hawkwing to gain favor, securing a promise that he may be presented to the Empress before being dismissed.
