Domon sails Spray away from a pursuing Seanchan ship, only to be boarded by Captain Egeanin and forced to deliver his vessel to Falme. There, he is brought before High Lord Turak, who identifies a cuendillar artifact Domon possessed and detains him for conversation.

He listens to their plea to sail, reveals his shallow-draft ship can evade patrols if given a damane, warns them of the terror of the collars by describing the capture of an Aes Sedai, and reluctantly agrees to be ready to sail after Nynaeve shows her ring.

Bayle Domon stands on the deck of the Spray, restraining his crew from fleeing despite the chaos of fire and lightning over Falme. He insists on keeping his word to the women and waits for them to arrive.
