Chapter 2 - Strangers
Lan
Lan kommt mit Moiraine an, trägt einen Umhang, der die Farbe wechselt, und verschmilzt mit den Schatten. Er schreitet lautlos an Moiraines Seite, sein kalter, blauer Blick wägt die Jugendlichen ab, und begleitet sie ohne ein Wort an die Dorfbewohner zu richten vom Wirtshaus weg.
Chapter 7 - Out of the Woods

Lan durchsucht den Weg vor ihnen, unterrichtet die Jungen im Schwert- und Axtkampf und besteht auf Geheimhaltung und langsamer Reise. Er tauscht Pseudonyme mit Moiraine ein, betritt Baerlon in alltäglicher Kleidung verkleidet und wird vom Wirt Fitch als Meister Andra begrüßt.
Chapter 14 - The Stag and Lion

Lan scouts the inn's common room to gather intelligence, finding reports of Logain's victory and Whitecloak agitation, and later checks the dining room door to ensure it is safe from eavesdroppers. He sternly reprimands Mat and the others in the bathhouse for nearly exposing their connection to Trollocs, warning them that the Children of the Light would view such talk as an admission of being Darkfriends.
Chapter 16 - The Wisdom

Lan offers Nynaeve wine, takes up guard across the hallway while Moiraine questions her inside, and silently signals for the boys to leave the room.

Lan stands silently at Moiraine's heels as she returns from the cells. He is the subject of Lord Agelmar's story regarding the fall of Malkier and his own destiny as the Uncrowned King, though he denies his titles.
Chapter 48 - The Blight

Lan rides Mandarb at the head of the group, setting a hard pace and warning them of the Blight's dangers. He helps saddle the horses at the camp and later stands guard through the night, sharing a quiet, personal exchange with Nynaeve about his kingship and her future.
Chapter 49 - The Dark One Stirs

Lan leads the group out of the camp and into the Blight, wearing steel-backed gauntlets. A massive creature leaps at the group, but Mat’s arrow pierces its eye, causing it to fall short. He repeatedly charges into the trees to cut down attackers, sustaining wounds that Moiraine heals, and urges the group to ride furiously to escape the pursuing Worms.
Chapter 50 - Meetings at the Eye

Lan follows Moiraine into the cavern and draws his sword when the Forsaken appear. He hesitates before charging, allowing Aginor to strike him with a dismissive gesture, sending him flying back into the archway unconscious and disarmed.

Lan leads his friends into the clearing, supporting Moiraine. He strikes a cuendillar fragment with a knife to prove its indestructibility, and listens to Moiraine's identification of the treasures. He greets Rand with dry approval of his survival and sword.

A litter fashioned by Lan is slung between horses to carry Moiraine. Lan watches Rand train with the sword and delivers a flat, cryptic farewell to the boy before leaving him alone on the balcony.
