Chapter 3 - The Peddler

Padan Fain — aliases: the peddler, Master Fain

Padan Fain drives his wagon into Emond's Field, delighting in the attention of the villagers before delivering sensational news of a False Dragon in Ghealdan who can channel the One Power. He calmly fields questions from the crowd and the Village Council, claiming that Aes Sedai are pursuing this man, before being escorted inside the inn by Bran and Tam while his horses are led away.

Chapter 4 - The Gleeman

Padan Fain — aliases: Master Fain

Padan Fain remains inside the Winespring Inn, enjoying mulled wine and avoiding the cold Green while the villagers watch the gleeman.

Chapter 15 - Strangers and Friends

Fain / Padan Fain / Padan — aliases: the peddler

Fain is spotted by Rand in the crowd, panics about Whitecloaks and Aes Sedai, promises secrecy to Rand, and flees through the streets.

Chapter 46 - Fal Dara

Fain / Padan Fain — aliases: peddler, madman

Padan Fain is brought into the study in ragged, filthy condition, initially acting like a pitiful beggar. He suddenly shifts demeanor, claiming to be a servant of Ba'alzamon and asserting his ability to defeat the Dark One. Moiraine identifies his corruption and takes him away for questioning.
