Prologue: Dragonmount

Summary

In the aftermath of a catastrophic event, Lews Therin Telamon wanders the ruined palace, hallucinating the presence of his deceased wife, Ilyena. He is confronted by Elan Morin Tedronai, who mocks his madness and restores Ilyena's body to life to tempt him into service. When Lews Therin refuses and realizes he himself killed his family and loved ones, he collapses in despair, channels the tainted One Power, and creates a massive mountain, Dragonmount, vanishing in the process. Elan Morin observes the destruction and declares that his war against Lews Therin is eternal before disappearing.

Characters

• Lews Therin Telamon (Dragon, Kinslayer, Lord of the Morning) — Wandering the ruined palace in madness, Lews Therin calls for his wife Ilyena until confronted by Elan Morin. After recovering Ilyena's body and refusing the Dark One's offer, he descends into despair over his past crimes, channels the tainted One Power, and raises Dragonmount before vanishing.
• Elan Morin Tedronai (Betrayer of Hope) — Appearing in the ruined palace, Elan Morin mocks Lews Therin's madness and uses dark healing to torment him, offering to restore Ilyena's body as a temptation. He reveals the eternity of their war and appears on an island as Lews Therin creates Dragonmount before departing.
