Master Hightower, a narrow-faced ferryman, opens his door to the approaching party in the fog. He refuses to cross in the night but accepts Lan’s gold coins, licking his lips greedily, and agrees to rouse his haulers to move the ferry immediately.

Chapter 12 - Across the Taren

Hightower / Master Hightower — aliases: the ferryman

Hightower commands the ferry crossing with suspicion and greed, demanding payment and later fleeing in panic when the landing is destroyed by Moiraine's power. He loses his craft and runs away into the mist after receiving the agreed gold.
