Cloud, a tall gray horse with a black mane and tail, is ridden by Rand. The spirited animal prances and dances, making mounting difficult, but Rand manages to control him as they leave.
Chapter 11 - The Road to Taren Ferry
Cloud — aliases: the gray
Cloud, Rand’s spirited gray horse, speeds through the night, straining to catch Lan’s black stallion and later exploding in terror at the Draghkar’s appearance. He is refreshed by Moiraine’s power and gallops beyond the reach of his reins until the group reaches the fog and then Taren Ferry.
Chapter 12 - Across the Taren
Cloud
Cloud is led by Rand through the fog and onto the ferry. He stands with the other horses during the crossing and later has a feedbag placed over his muzzle by Rand before being hobbled.
Chapter 13 - Choices
Cloud
Cloud is Rand's spirited gray horse. He rides into Baerlon and trots through the gates after Bela. He is led into the stableyard of the Stag and Lion by Rand.
Chapter 17 - Watchers and Hunters
Cloud
Cloud is Rand's spirited gray horse. He carries Rand out of Baerlon and is kept on a brisk walk by Lan before being hobbled for the cold camp.
Chapter 18 - The Caemlyn Road
Cloud
Rand's spirited gray horse carries Rand into battle against the Trollocs, rearing and screaming amidst the chaos.
Chapter 19 - Shadow’s Waiting
Cloud
Cloud is led into the stable area of the white stone building by Rand. He is unhorsed and left standing in the room while the group explores the city.
Chapter 20 - Dust on the Wind
Cloud
Rand, mounted on Cloud, speeds through the ruined city, avoiding Trolloc catchpoles and the silvery glow of Mashadar by crouching low. Cloud gallops desperately, keeping Rand ahead of his pursuers and carrying him toward the riverbank before Rand falls into the icy water. Cloud remains near the bank, and Rand later pats his neck while catching his breath.
Chapter 48 - The Blight
Cloud
Cloud is Rand's horse, ridden into the Blight alongside the rest of the group.
