Chapter 3 - The Peddler

Padan Fain — aliases: the peddler, Master Fain

Padan Fain drives his wagon into Emond's Field, delighting in the attention of the villagers before delivering sensational news of a False Dragon in Ghealdan who can channel the One Power. He calmly fields questions from the crowd and the Village Council, claiming that Aes Sedai are pursuing this man, before being escorted inside the inn by Bran and Tam while his horses are led away.

Chapter 15 - Strangers and Friends

Fain / Padan Fain — aliases: the peddler

Padan Fain appears ragged and paranoid in a Baerlon alley, expressing fear and dread at the mention of the Aes Sedai before crashing into Mat.

Chapter 46 - Fal Dara

Fain / Padan Fain / The peddler / The beggar / The stranger

Padan Fain is brought before Lord Agelmar, ragged and filthy. He initially whines and cries, claiming to be hunted by the Dark One, then shifts to an arrogant, oily demeanor, offering to teach Agelmar how to defeat the Shadow. Moiraine identifies him as more than human and orders him to be taken away for washing and questioning.
