Chapter 2 - Strangers

Moiraine arrives in Emond's Field wearing a blue velvet cloak and intricate gold jewelry, accompanied by her sword-wielding attendant Lan. She interacts with Rand and Mat in the Green, giving them silver coins and tasks while claiming to be a student of history interested in the region's past.

Chapter 4 - The Gleeman

Moiraine — aliases: Lady, Lady Moiraine

Moiraine joins the crowd listening to Thom Merrilin, prompting him to stop his performance and bow to her with visible wariness. She responds with grace, exchanging polite remarks about stories before turning away with Lan.

Chapter 7 - Out of the Woods

Moiraine / Moiraine Sedai — aliases: Aes Sedai, Mistress

Sitting on the ground near the Bel Tine fires, Moiraine examines a dead Trolloc's badge with Lan, lamenting the scale of the Dark One's forces. She listens to Rand's desperate request to heal Tam, acknowledges the difficulty of her position, and agrees to come to the inn with him.

Chapter 8 - A Place of Safety

Moiraine / Moiraine Sedai — aliases: the Aes Sedai

Moiraine heals Tam al’Thor using a brown ivory angreal, revealing that the wound was tainted by Dark One’s steel. She informs Rand and Lan that the attack was a targeted effort to kill them three boys, and she orders them to leave for Tar Valon for safety and answers.

Chapter 9 - Tellings of the Wheel

Moiraine — aliases: Aes Sedai, the Aes Sedai

Moiraine stands before an angry mob, wielding her staff to create flames and silence the crowd. She delivers a detailed historical account of the kingdom of Manetheren, its king Aemon, and its queen Eldrene, shaming the villagers into dispersing.

Chapter 10 - Leavetaking

Moiraine — aliases: Aes Sedai, Sedai

Moiraine confronts the boys for talking, silencing them with her voice. She allows Egwene to join the party and accepts Thom Merrilin's company, asserting that they are all part of the Pattern. She rides with the group, leading them away from the village.

Chapter 11 - The Road to Taren Ferry

Moiraine — aliases: the Aes Sedai, Moiraine Sedai

Moiraine rides her white mare, leading the group with Lan while riding through the fog she conjures to hide them from the Darkhounds. She refreshes the horses’ stamina, refuses to kill the Draghkar from horseback, and leads the party to Taren Ferry, where her presence and Lan’s bargaining secure their passage.

Chapter 12 - Across the Taren

Moiraine / Aes Sedai / Moiraine Sedai

Moiraine creates a massive, swirling fog that sucks into a whirlpool, destroying the ferry and its landing to cover the group's escape. She rebukes the party for demanding explanations but promises their safety. She retreats into a hidden hollow with Egwene to teach her about the One Power and guides Egwene through her first touch of saidar using a blue stone.

Chapter 13 - Choices

Moiraine / Alys — aliases: Aes Sedai, Mistress Alys

Moiraine heals the group before they depart and teaches Egwene about the One Power. She forces the group to adhere to a strict, slow pace and silences their complaints with a chilling threat to kill them if the Dark One takes them. In Baerlon, she assumes the alias Alys and negotiates entry with the gatekeeper Avin before leading the group to the Stag and Lion inn.

Chapter 14 - The Stag and Lion

Moiraine — aliases: Mistress Alys

Moiraine arranges for the group's lodging and baths, negotiates with the innkeeper regarding the Children of the Light, and introduces a seeress named Min to the group before the meal.

Chapter 16 - The Wisdom

Moiraine / Mistress Alys / Moiraine Sedai — aliases: Aes Sedai

Moiraine sits across from Nynaeve, defending her protection of the boys against the Whitecloaks and the Dark One, then orders the others to leave so she may question Nynaeve privately about the boys' origins.
