Elyas / Elyas Machera
Elyas is a lean, sun-browned man dressed in animal skins who lives in the forest with his wolves. He feeds Perrin and Egwene, reveals he can communicate with them psychically, and explains his history with the Aes Sedai. He assesses the pair's situation, accepts Perrin's gift of connection to the wolves, and decides to guide them south toward Caemlyn.
Chapter 25 - The Traveling People

Elyas leads the pair to the Tinker camp, commanding the mastiffs to submit with a whistle. He maintains a strained relationship with Raen, refusing to sit on a log and listening grimly to the story about the Aiel Waste.
Chapter 27 - Shelter From the Storm

Elyas refuses to sit on logs, eats pie, and cryptically insists on waiting before leaving despite Perrin's urging. He confronts Perrin after the nightmare, confirms the wolves shared the vision of fire and pain, and leads the group out of camp, participating in the farewell song despite his disbelief.
Chapter 29 - Eyes Without Pity

Elyas drives the group forward with relentless pace to evade the ravens, using his knowledge of the land to guide them to the stedding. He reveals the monument as Artur Hawkwing's Eye and recounts the history of the High King and the lost city.
Chapter 30 - Children of Shadow
Elyas
Elyas appears by the pool, interpreting Perrin's expressions and warning him of danger before the group hides. He directs Perrin and Egwene to hide and then vanishes into the shadows to fight with the wolves. He is later sensed by Perrin as being in the fray but is ultimately unaccounted for as the battle ends, leaving Perrin to believe they may be dead or have abandoned him.
Chapter 38 - Rescue

Elyas is seen by Perrin in a mental vision transmitted through Dapple, lying on a bed of evergreen branches in a cave and tending to a wound in his side, confirming he survived the encounter with the Whitecloaks.
