Chapter 41 - A Hunter’s Oath

Zarine, insisting she is called Faile, boldly negotiates her place in the group by swearing a Hunter’s oath to Moiraine to heed commands and ask no questions. She then attempts to mount Perrin's horse, requiring him to lift her onto Stepper's back.

Zarine listens to the group's discovery of the Darkhound and initially challenges Lan's severity. She stays with Perrin in their room, questioning his identity and ta'veren status, before watching him wake from his dream.

Zarine refuses to swear an oath to go another way, choosing to follow the group. She mounts a bay gelding offered by Lan and rides alongside Perrin. She questions Moiraine about the threat and the power she used, expressing shock that Mat sounded the Horn of Valere.
Chapter 50 - The Hammer
Zarine / Faile — aliases: mistress
Zarine, who insists on being called Faile, questions the group about their destination and the danger of the Forsaken. After reaffirming her commitment to the hunt despite her fear, she remains with the group.
Chapter 53 - A Flow of the Spirit
Zarine / Faile — aliases: Fai (Fai), falcon (Falke)
Zarine geht mit Perrin zur Herberge und eilt in ihren privaten Speisesaal, um Moiraine zu finden. Sie sinkt auf den Boden, gefangen von einem Igel-Ter'angreal, erscheint leblos mit gestopptem Herzschlag, während ihr Bewusstsein in die Welt der Träume gezogen wird.

Faile appears in Perrin's dream as a vision chained to a stone block, smiles at him as he frees her, and then fades away as the dream shifts.
Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy
Faile — aliases: falcon (Falke), falcons
Faile appears in the dream chained to a perch, protected by the falcons. Perrin breaks her chain, and she kneels over him in the waking world, wiping blood from his face and calling him her poor blacksmith. She is physically present in the dining room of the Star inn, unconscious in the dream but awake in reality.
