Chapter 35 - The Right Thing

Summary

Egwene al'Vere instructs Siuan Sanche to act as bait for Mesaana in Tel'aran'rhiod, emphasizing caution and personal safety before preparing for the trap. Meanwhile, Perrin Aybara returns to camp after his trial with Galad Damodred, where he was judged guilty of unlawful killing but allowed to go free under a conditional oath. Perrin argues with Faile about the wisdom of submitting to Galad's judgment, asserting that preserving lives for the coming Last Battle was necessary. He then tasks Faile with organizing an evacuation plan and enters the wolf dream to confront Slayer. Inside the dreamscape, Perrin, Hopper, and other wolves breach a violet dome created by Slayer to trap them. A fierce battle ensues where Slayer kills the wolf Oak Dancer and wounds Sparks before fleeing. Perrin pursues Slayer through shifting dream locations, eventually discovering a silver ter'angreal spike that anchors the dome. Perrin takes the spike and shifts it away from his camp, breaking the immediate threat while remaining bound to its location.
