Chapter 2 - Saidin
Rand — aliases: Dragon Reborn (Drago Rinato)
Rand emerge dalla capanna di Moiraine, riceve il rispetto dei Shienaran e si ritira in una valle isolata. Confida a Perrin la sua paura della macchia su Saidin e la sua frustrazione per la guida di Moiraine. Inavvertitamente scatena un enorme terremoto mentre cerca di attingere al Potere Unico, che riesce a reprimere prima di ammettere di sentirsi costantemente tirato dalla Fonte e dal Tenebroso.
Chapter 5 - Nightmares Walking
Rand — aliases: Dragon Reborn (Drago Rinato), Lord Dragon (Lord Dragon)
Rand si trova isolato dopo la battaglia, lamentandosi della sua mancanza di un contributo utile allo scontro e della sua incapacità di controllare il Potere Uno, prima di rivelare a Moiraine che la sua ferita della Falme si è riaperta.
Chapter 9 - Wolf Dreams

Rand si nasconde nella notte, sofferente per la sua ferita non guarita e per la macchia di saidin. Distrugge un cane dell'inferno che lo attacca con una barra di luce bianca, poi interrompe la sua connessione al Potere per mascherare la sua presenza, continuando il suo cammino verso est in direzione di Tear.
Chapter 27 - Tel’aran’rhiod

Nel sogno di Egwene, Rand siede accanto a un fuoco magico, fumando una pipa e parlando con rabbia all'oscurità riguardo a sua madre, suo padre e a una "bella ragazza". Manifesta una spada di fiamma e minaccia Egwene prima che lei fugga dalla visione.
Chapter 32 - The First Ship

Rand al'Thor camps alone in the wilderness, playing music by a fire while roasting a rabbit. He battles with his sanity, haunted by dreams of Selene and faces trying to kill him, fearing he is going mad.
Chapter 36 - Daughter of the Night
Rand — aliases: the Dragon Reborn
Rand wakes from exhaustion in the hills and is confronted by a merchant and her guards. He kills them with a sword of fire, channels the One Power to make their bodies kneel before him, and then mounts a horse to ride toward Tear, vowing to end the taunting by finding Callandor.
Chapter 54 - Into the Stone
Rand
Rand al’Thor climbs the sheer face of the Stone of Tear, ignoring the pain of his reopened wound, and hurries through the dark corridors with a crooked smile, anticipating the moment he will finally wield Callandor and end his torment.
Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy
Rand / Lews Therin / Kinslayer / Rand al'Thor — aliases: Dragon Reborn (Drago Rinato), countryman, country lad
Rand enters the Heart of the Stone and confronts Be'lal, refusing to take Callandor immediately before fighting the Forsaken with a blade of red flame. After Moiraine destroys Be'lal, Ba'alzamon appears and attempts to take Rand's soul. Rand grabs Callandor, channeling immense power while walking a razor's edge of stability, and chases Ba'alzamon through shifting realities, finally killing him in the Heart of the Stone. He raises the sword to declare himself the Dragon Reborn, causing the Veiled Men and Defenders to kneel to him.
