Chapter 6 - A Stave and a Razor

Remains in Jurador for two extra days with Luca's show, buys a black yew bowstave and a razor mare after haggling with the stablekeeper. He reflects on his ta'veren luck and the dice spinning in his head, then visits Tuon's wagon where he calls her "Precious" and learns of approaching Seanchan soldiers.
Chapter 7 - A Cold Medallion

Reacts to news of Seanchan troops by ordering Noal and Olver to warn Egeanin and the Aes Sedai, then leaves his wagon to assess the enemy camp across the road.

He negotiates with Aludra to fund her bronze cannons against the Seanchan through Rand al'Thor, experiences ta'veren memories of dying at the ruins of Londaren Cor, and gives Tuon a razor mare that momentarily silences his dice visions.
Chapter 9 - A Short Path

Observes Egeanin's advice on Seanchan court politics and courting customs before enduring harassment from three Aes Sedai who throw rocks and sparks at him until Teslyn secretly shields a private argument. He later learns Setalle Anan was once an Aes Sedai and makes a secret pact regarding Tuon's true intentions, then witnesses the sisters confront Tuon over peace negotiations. Tuon uses hidden a'dam collars to subdue all three, demonstrates absolute control over their channeling, and orders Mat to remove the leashes after they agree to cease interference. He complies and buries the captured ter'angreal in the rain that night.
Chapter 10 - A Village in Shiota
Mat — aliases: Toy
Observes the peddler and village sink into clay, feeling dread but recognizing the event as beyond his ability to stop. Listens to Luca's persuasive route proposal and wagers a gold crown with Thom Merrilin that the showman will successfully calm the troupe. Notices the Aes Sedai studying Tuon instead of him, calculating how to protect her while navigating their hidden political maneuvers.

Chapter 11 - A Hell in Maderin

He rides to Maderin, rolls dice in his tent, and reluctantly agrees to take Tuon to a tavern after Thom reports Seanchan troop movements and an assassination plot. He fights off seven street attackers with knives, sustains multiple wounds, and decides to abandon the show immediately to escape the threats.
