Lan appare dalla penombra insieme a Moiraine, il mantello che si muove tra le ombre, e si unisce al gruppo intorno al fuoco con Uno e Loial. Conferma la presenza degli Spossati, si offre di fare la ronda lungo il perimetro dell'accampamento e divora rapidamente tre piatti di stufato prima di affrettarsi dietro Moiraine.
Chapter 5 - Nightmares Walking

Lan si sveglia completamente vestito per guidare la difesa, combattendo i Trolloci e un Myrddraal, poi sostiene Moiraine e la porta a riposare dopo che ha guarito tutti.
Chapter 6 - The Hunt Begins

Lan entra nella capanna per riferire che metà dei membri del campo ha sognato una spada, confermando la destinazione del viaggio di Rand. Gli viene affidato il compito di seguire le tracce di Rand e avverte severamente Perrin di badare a come parla.

Lan dismounts in Jarra and carries Moiraine's belongings to her room. He warns Perrin to keep his mouth shut and observes Moiraine's refusal to heal Noam with a cold, wolf-like intensity before letting her go with Perrin.

Lan supera Perrin verso le scale, guida il gruppo alle scuderie, paga il custode con dell'oro, versa il pagamento al capitano e ai marinai per il viaggio e accompagna Moiraine sottocoperta.

Lan is seen on deck of the Snow Goose, looking over his horse Mandarb while Zarine sits nearby sharpening her knives.
Chapter 41 - A Hunter’s Oath

Lan rides ahead of the group onto the Illian docks, examining his sword blade and displaying subtle amusement at the tension between the women, though he remains silent about Zarine's oath.

Lan escorts the group through Illian and confronts Moiraine about her intention to leave alone, citing his Warder bond. He is ordered to obey and leave with Perrin, leaving him grim-faced and worried.
Chapter 43 - Shadowbrothers

Lan finisce di sellare i cavalli mentre Nieda tiene una lanterna, e dice a Zarine di tenere i cavalli mentre si prepara a combattere. Si avvicina a Zarine per istruirla a tenere le bestie, notando che i suoi coltelli saranno inutili contro i Darkhounds. Perrin chiede perché i Darkhounds non siano stati inviati da Sammael, e Lan concorda con Loial sul fatto che il suggerimento dell'Ogier di aspettare sulla collina sia una buona idea.
Chapter 50 - The Hammer
