Desora, an Aiel Maiden, leaps onto Rand to save him from the crossbow bolt but is impaled through the ribs. Her sightless eyes stare at Rand as the bolt presses against his wrist before her head slumps sideways. She dies on the paving stones, and a Maiden later straightens her body and lifts her veil.
