Mat attends the Silver Circuit, wagers all his money on the horse Wind, and wins the race. He narrowly escapes an assassination attempt by a sharp-faced woman using a Shadar Logoth dagger, then follows her through Ebou Dar to the Chelsaine Palace, where he identifies the resident as Jaichim Carridin.
