10.6 Miranda

Summary

Miranda flees through the streets of Landfall pursued by a relentless crowd of her past forms and acquaintances, before being intercepted by Doctor Avrana Kern near the scaffold. Overwhelmed by agonizing guilt and the full realization of her true identity as a sprawling Nodan compound intelligence, Miranda confesses to ruining the colony and despises herself as a monstrous entity. Kern calmly dismisses her self-blame, explaining that the human settlement was doomed from the start and noting that Miranda's deep compassion for the locals makes her a better human than Kern ever was.

Characters

• Miranda — Landfallを抜けて過去の姿や知り合いの群れから逃走した末にAvrana Kernに追い詰められ、自分が本当はNodanの複合人格であるという恐ろしい真実に直面して深い自責の念に苦しむが、Kernにその自責を否定され、慰められる。
