Chapter 2 - Whirlpools in the Pattern

Chapter 4 - Strings

Chapter 13 - Rumors

Mat sits alone in a tavern, sketching a door in his wine, and interrogates a merchant about rumors of Whitecloaks in the Two Rivers. He later finds Perrin packing to leave, discusses the threat, and after a moment of introspection, realizes he is already inclined to return home and tosses his gold coin to a servant.

Chapter 15 - Into the Doorway

Mat Cauthan navigates the dusty corridors of the Stone's basement to find the twisted doorframe ter'angreal. He enters the other side, where strange beings in yellow wraps drag him to three sibyls who scream prophecies about his death, marriage, and destiny before hurling him back into the real world. He then confronts Rand al'Thor and Moiraine about the encounter, refusing to believe the nonsense but shaken by the intensity of the experience.

Chapter 22 - Out of the Stone

Mat rides alongside the group, displaying nervous determination about using Portal Stones. He flips a gold Tar Valon mark to help Rand choose the correct symbol on the stone column, trusting his luck to guide them safely to Rhuidean.

Chapter 23 - Beyond the Stone

Mat arrives at Rhuidean via Portal Stone, expressing relief at their safe arrival. He awkwardly bows to the Wise Ones to ask permission to enter Rhuidean alongside Rand, deposits a large pile of concealed knives at their feet, and prepares to walk into the heart of the city with Rand.

Chapter 24 - Rhuidean

Mat enters Rhuidean and drinks heavily from a fountain that begins to flow. He waits by the Tree of Life until Rand departs into the ter'angreal rings. Finding the rings too dangerous and the wait too long, Mat discovers a twisted redstone ter'angreal doorway, enters it, and is led by a pale, fox-like man to a group of beings on pedestals who answer his prophecies with the word 'Done' before leaving him suffocating in the dark.

Chapter 26 - The Dedicated

Mat wakes up gasping after being hanged by the beings from the twisted doorway, clutching a silver foxhead medallion and a strange dark-shafted spear. He recovers enough to run with Rand, using the spear as a weapon against the dust entities, and complains of a splitting headache as they flee the dust entities within Rhuidean.

Chapter 34 - He Who Comes with the Dawn

Mat follows Rand up the mountain, suffering from a strangulation mark and headache, aided by a strange black-hafted spear. He receives water and medicinal ointment from the Wise Ones. Mat rides beside Rand, wearing a kerchief to shade his eyes and carrying his spear. He interacts with the peddlers, buying a hat from Keille Shaogi, and listens with confusion and unease as Rand speaks of snares and evil before urging Mat to watch himself.

Chapter 48 - An Offer Refused
