Characters

• Tomas (the gray-haired Warder) — Tomas, one of the Warders guarding the hidden Aes Sedai, confronts the group with his bow drawn. He questions Marin al'Vere about the presence of an Ogier and Aiel, ultimately accepting her assurance that they are allies and allowing the group to pass.
• Ihvon (the slender Warder) — Ihvon, the slender Warder, stands guard alongside Tomas. He melts into the undergrowth to scout the surroundings.
• Stepper — Stepper, Perrin's dun stallion, is ridden out of the village by Perrin, though he is eventually dismounted as the group proceeds on foot to the sickhouse.
• Swallow — Mistress al’Vere accompanied Perrin, Faile, and Loial out to the stableyard before they proceeded on foot toward the split oak.
