Elayne / Elayne Trakand — Elayne travels in a carriage to the Maule wharf and boards the Wavedancer, where she observes the Sea Folk crew and their customs with a mix of curiosity and discomfort. She carefully maintains her disguise as an Aes Sedai, supporting Nynaeve as she leads the negotiations. While Elayne offers tact to manage the interaction, it is Coine who dictates the terms of passage, driven by the prophecy of the Coramoor rather than any specific management by Elayne.
Coine / Coine din Jubai (Sailmistress, Sailmistress of Wavedancer) — Coine greets Elayne and Nynaeve on the deck and receives them in her cabin to discuss passage. She reveals the Jendai Prophecy regarding the Coramoor and agrees to take the women to Tanchico as a service to him, refusing their payment but demanding they remain hidden and remove their identifying jewelry.
