Chapter 16 - Leavetakings
Loial
Loial erhält von den Frauen der Steine einen riesigen Blumenstrauß, weil er Kinder während des Angriffs gerettet hat. Er ist bestürzt, als ihn Faile an einen Eid erinnert, der ihn verpflichtet, sie in die Zwei-Flüsse-Region zu bringen, was ihn dazu zwingt, ihr trotz Perrins Einwand zuzustimmen, sie mitzunehmen.
Chapter 18 - Into the Ways

Loial drängt die Gruppe zum Eilen, reitet auf einem großen Pferd und führt sie zur Stätte eines verschwundenen Ogier-Hains, in dem das Wegtor verborgen ist. Er trauert um den Verlust der Bäume, entfernt das Kleeblattblatt vom Tor und beobachtet, wie Perrin zuerst eintritt.
Chapter 27 - Within the Ways

Loial rides a tall horse through the Ways, carrying the packhorses' lead lines. He breaks a lantern during the fight with Trollocs and uses it as a weapon. Upon reaching the Manetheren Waygate, he dismounts to unlock it and later replaces the trefoil leaves to lock the gate from the outside, preventing the Machin Shin from following them out.
Chapter 30 - Beyond the Oak

Loial sits in the inn drinking tea, expressing sorrow over Perrin's loss and agreeing to continue traveling with the group. He wears a cloak and hood to conceal his appearance while traveling through the village and woods.
Chapter 31 - Assurances

Loial sitzt mit der Gruppe im Krankenhaus und erklärt Verin, dass er den Wegtor von außen abgeschlossen habe, als sie die Nebelgebirge betraten, um sicherzustellen, dass niemand es nutzen konnte, bis es von dieser Seite geöffnet wird.

Loial wird anfangs aufgrund seiner Größe die Reise genehmigt, wird jedoch von Perrin beauftragt, Alanna heimlich zu überwachen, bevor er zurückbleibt.

Loial enters carrying a huge axe, admits to Perrin that locking the Waygate from the outside allowed Trollocs to enter, and prepares to return to the gate despite Perrin’s forbidding orders.
Chapter 53 - The Price of a Departure
Loial
Loial arrives at Emond's Field carrying the wounded Gaul, exhausted from fleeing Trollocs and a Nightrunner for days. He confirms that the Waygate in the Mountains of Mist has been locked from the outside, requiring an Ogier Elder or an Aes Sedai to open it, and reports to Perrin the existence of several thousand Trollocs and fifty Myrddraal in the area. He later sits scribbling notes about his journey and gives Faile a book to carry to Caemlyn.
Chapter 56 - Goldeneyes

Loial stands with the villagers, wielding large wood-axes like mallets to fight Trollocs, appearing grim and determined.
